Proposal: Quick Response Time

Popular, 6-0. Enacted by JonathanDark.

In the rule “Scoring”, add the following step just before the last step in the Fragment Scoring atomic action:

* For each Storyteller whose most recent valid Scoring Response received by the Publisher was sent 48 hours or less after the the most recent Judging was posted and while it was Open, give that Storyteller 5 Points. The Publisher should privately inform each Storyteller of the Points they received this way.

Similar to “Early Submission Bonus”, an incentive to send Scoring Responses early. If this gets enacted soon enough, it could apply to the current Judging.

My only concern with this is that it could incentivize people to not think so much about their Scoring Response / what Fragments they want to see in the Story and just send one in for the bonus, especially since they can send another one later assuming the Judging is still open. But that might not be a huge issue since Scoring Responses shouldn’t take very long to do.

Hm, that is a good point about the ability to send a crap Scoring Response early, then a “real” one later. It’s risky if everyone else sends theirs before you send the real one, but we probably shouldn’t incentivize that sort of play.

I changed it to only award the points if that Storyteller’s most recent Scoring Response was sent 48 hours after the Judging.

That still doesn’t solve the play where a Storyteller just decides to do a crap Scoring, like giving all Fragments the same Score regardless of their merits or handing out random Scoring.

On the other hand, there’s no way to determine if either of those is a true feeling of merit or a hurried response, and it’s a problem we already have today when the 24-hour deadline kicks in after a quorum of Storytellers submits their Scoring Responses, so I don’t think this makes the situation that much worse.
