Call for Judgment: [Appendix] Take It To The Limit

Uphold each Fragment that has been included in each Judging from the beginning of the dynasty to the Judging on 20 June 2024 as valid Fragments received in Creative Writings sent to the Publisher, and uphold those Judgings in that same range as valid.

In the rule “Numbers and Variables” located in the Appendix under the “Clarifications” section, add the following bullet point:

* A range of numerical values stated to be “between” one value and another value is treated as an inclusive range unless otherwise explicitly stated.

After seeing My kingdom for an extra sentence!, I realized that I had in fact received one or more Fragments that were exactly 100 words that were subsequently posted in a Judging, and thus if “between 5 and 100” is not explicitly inclusive, those Fragments and the Judgings in which they appeared might be considered illegal. The easiest way forward is simply to uphold them, add the language to make the range inclusive, and move on.

“The DICEN command can be used to generate a random number between 1 and N.”

To me, the danger of passing this CFJ is that it subtly implies that other places in the ruleset that use inclusive between are incorrect, even though we already use inclusive between everywhere else in the rules.

So I’m fine with a clarifying rule added to the appendex that makes between inclusive be default, but it should apply everywhere not just here

Good point. I just changed the CfJ to add this as a bullet point in the Appendix.
