Proposal: The Debate Escalates

This was an illegal proposal, as Desertfrog already had two proposals pending (Crime and Punishment and Promoting Democracy) at the time of its submission. A proposal may not be made if the proposer “already has 2 Proposals pending”. Flagged by Kevan.

Add the following new Claims:

Lots of Resources
-standard
-strength: 16
-condition: have all the Resources named in the table in the rule “Influence”

Reputable
-minor
-strength: 60
-condition: have the highest Reputation among all Heirs

Close Relative
-irremediable
-strength: 8
-condition: you haven’t Nominated a Distant Successor for yourself during the current dynasty

All the different ways to change claims’ strengths feel a bit useless at the moment with just five claims. Besides, we probably don’t want Eldest to be the srongest claim.

Most reputable feels weird to turn into a claim

It can create really big gaps in reputation. Like right now, lendun would go to 20 reputation. But then if someone else gets to 20 reputation themselves they then go to 24 as they get the claim, and lendun drops to 16 suddenly a 1 point gap of 20-19 in favor of Lendun turns into a 24-16 gap in favor of the other player

I think the Strength of Reputable should be a lot less. I get it that it’s favorable for most of us not to have Eldest as the strongest claim, but that’s what Strength-manipulation mechanics are for. I’d rather not supplant that with Reputable.

@Clucky Reputable is minor so it doesn’t affect reputation at all

I’d definitely be in favour of more claims, but Eldest is the traditional way that power used to be passed. It feels more logical to weaken it via in-game means, rather than simply making reputation the winning resource.

against Too much weight on Reputation, given that it was assigned randomly at the start, survives Succession and is generally good to have more of anyway.
