Change the last paragraph of “Sweets” to the following:

If a Student has a Jelly Dean, they may roll DICE4 to unwrap it. If the result is N or less, the Jelly Dean becomes a Loved Dean. Otherwise, it becomes a Loathed Dean. N is 1 if the Student is a Zombie, 2 if they are a Ghost and 3 if they are Alive.

for why not, overall expected value is 0.5.

against Actual expected value is 0.65 Loved, since there are so many Alive Students.

I would however change my vote if Dark Ascendancy triggered when the number of Loathed Deans is greater than the number of Loved Deans rather than when the number of Loathed is greater than twice the number of Loved Deans.
If this part of the rules changed, then Zombie Students could work toward getting a D.A. and Alive Students could try to maintain L.A., which would, at last, not be way too easy.

As things are now, we’ll never see a Dark Ascendancy.

As the “composition” of the student body changes, I didn’t take that into account. However, the rule helps to swing to extremes. So to get to DA one would have to have just really more zombies.
