Flying carpets do seem like an obvious choice.  Maybe the kind from the myth that only work if you don’t think about pink elephants?  Which sounds on the surface like a really interesting idea but i’m buggered if i can think of a way to make it a rule.

No name manipulation; it’s too difficult to use (given names with different lengths). I would be in favor of link-based usage, but I would also like some ability to do geographical travel. Maybe one is the usual method and the other is a special case?

How do you propose to do geographic travel? Neither of the two systems I came up with are very good. A fixed mileage (or kilometerage) per day makes sense, but information on the distance between two arbitrary points is going to be difficult to come by. “Travel to any neighboring country” is simple enough, but then it takes 6 moves to get from Colombia to Mexico, and 2 from Mexico to Canada.

I like NOI’s idea, even if it limits my destinations to Amundsen Station, Vostok Station and Christchurch, NZ of all places.
