Proposal: Workplace Addition

Number of Townspeople not voting AGAINST is less than quorum (4 FOR, 5 AGAINST). Failed by Kevan.

In the workplaces rule add the following after the ninth bullet point:

Observatory (Astronomer): See Rule 2.8 (the Sky)

There can only be one Astronomer at any time.

I think a little decentralization of rule 2.8 is a good idea. Maybe you think so too?

I don’t believe the last sentence of this proposal has the force of rule.

Josh: Observer he/they

for It doesn’t, but I think it’s okay to have the weather be a bit chaotic.

Okay, or at least thematically consistent.

The wording of the actual rule part is also a little off—the text after a Workplace/occupation is supposed to be what the person processing the DoO does, not an ability that the Occupation has access to.  against

against I don’t see any reason anyone would want to do this. It would be giving up an opportunity to do something useful for the ability to be the one to make a random selection. If the selection weren’t random, then it might be useful, but as it is I don’t see what could be gained from it.

Also, I’m not happy about rule numbers being mentioned in a specific rule, because if a rule is added to a specific place in the ruleset (the way the rule Vocabulary was) then it messes everything up.

@Brendan It should… The wording is that you can execute rule 2.6 as if your the astrologer

@Sylphrena Same as above, But I should maybe add something to that, you’re right on that

I just realized that his might make someone Astronomer _until_ the Day of Observance is called.

“Workplaces” state:

The bracketed word after the name of each Workplace is the name given to any Townsperson who has that Workplace.

This once someone chose Observatory, they would be named Astronomer and could thus do the stuff “The Sky” allows an Astronomer to do.

Also, although the last sentence has no influence on gamestate - except maybe at the moment this Proposal is enacted -, this doesn’t hurt, since a second Astronomer couldn’t do anything with “The Sky” anyways…
