Proposal: Engine Upgrades

Add to the rule “The Watch”:

Change the text:

- Make a valid Move with a vessel they control.
- Have a Battleship they control Shoot at up to 2 squares. (A Battleship cannot Shoot at a square adjacent to the square it is located in; a Battleship can choose to shoot at the same square twice. Battleships Shoot a Manhattan distance.)
- Have a Submarine they control Shoot at up to 1 square; this square must be from a single row (if the Submarine is Facing East (E) or West (W)) or column (if the Submarine is Facing North (N) or South (S)) which is directly between the Submarine and the grid edge the Submarine is Facing.
- Have a Minelayer they control Place at up to 1 square.

To the text:

- Make up to one valid Move with a vessel they control and make up to one valid Shot with the same vessel
The following three bullet points are valid Shots:
  - Have a Battleship they control Shoot at up to 2 squares. (A Battleship cannot Shoot at a square adjacent to the square it is located in; a Battleship can choose to shoot at the same square twice. Battleships Shoot a Manhattan distance.)
  - Have a Submarine they control Shoot at up to 1 square; this square must be from a single row (if the Submarine is Facing East (E) or West (W)) or column (if the Submarine is Facing North (N) or South (S)) which is directly between the Submarine and the grid edge the Submarine is Facing.
  - Have a Minelayer they control Place at up to 1 square.

This change would allow a Vessel to move and shoot in the same Watch, which would hopefully speed things up a bit.

against Would slow things down by making it much harder to actually hit anyone, I suspect.

Hmm, hadn’t considered that, what about allowing two shooting actions per order?

against Think we talked about this in an earlier proposal. One action a turn allows the logic “if the other person shoots, I’ll hit that person”. 2 shots doesn’t fix that.

I haven’t had as much time for this recently and I’ll quit being a drag on gameplay. I idle again; quorum is still 4.
