Proposal: Hix’s *s

Vetoed. -Elias IX

Adminned at 27 Feb 2006 19:31:40 UTC

At the end of the dynasty, add the following as a glossary entry:

Any terms or list of terms inside a pair of double quotes refers specifically to a name or more than one name. For example, “Hix, Angry Grasshopper and Rodney” voted on a certain proposal.

However, if more than half the votes on this contain the word “Now,” add the glossary entery immediately and the Admin who processes this must place “s around every name in the ruleset.

Oh, and if this passes, I’ll give 10 dubloons to the last person to make a counted for vote.  Hopefully, this proposal will pass before complete chaos ensues.

for Wouldn’t giving 10 dubloons to the last person delay people from voting for as long as possible?

oh, and now.

Hix:

This is nothing like what I suggested.  It says nothing about things that are not enclosed in “quotes”

for Hey now, yeah, I had the same bribery mechanism problem during my first dynasty.

By the way,  I now voted for

Hopefully, there won’t now be a backlash of the anti-now’s to this.  for

Bucky:

I should have phrased it clearer.  I meant the last person to make eir first for vote if their final vote is for.

for I get it now.

against What? This is obviously some sort of scam to bypass Smith’s fix, isn’t it? Given that there are existing ruleset terms with quotes around them and this is saying that they should explicitly become player names. Come on.

Bucky:

28-02-2006 00:46:45 UTC

That’s why I left the option of putting it off until the next dynasty.  Also, this fixes not just player names but also item names, etc.

Angry Grasshopper:

28-02-2006 01:03:33 UTC

I don’t see it as a scam, as such, but almost every Law has at least one term in quotes, making this very difficult to implement as it is.

Thanks for the extra pair of eyes, Kevan. ;)

So just un-Now everything and let it go into effect next time.

So ammend this proposal to single quotes.

veto, for reasons that I don’t really want to state.

Well, maybe I will. “Captain” is a name in the Ruleset currently, thank you very much.

good call. it looked like it was going to be messy, after all.
