Before the paragraph beginning “Move On is an Atomic Action” in “The Building”, add a paragraph:-
If no Build action has occurred in the previous 48 hours, then any Engineer can Move On.
I think this Proposal is working on off the fact that in general, there has been at least one Build in every 24-hour period until we’ve arrived at this current state. Any other criteria is probably superfluous.
Fair point. Maybe I am overacting on the “48 hours”. At first it seemed like a long time to me, but maybe it’s not. I failed to realise that the rhythm of BN is quite slow compared to other games and that 48 hours is merely the amount of time it takes to expire a Proposal.
This is intended as a worst-case backstop, really.
If we could meaningfully measure “building finished” in a way that didn’t involve twiddling our thumbs for two days (which is a long time if it’s 100% clear to the group that nobody else is going to be doing any building), that would be good to see in addition.
BlogNomic is an online Nomic: a self-modifying game where changing the rules is part of the game. Players make blog posts proposing additions or alterations to the ruleset, discussing and casting votes in the comments: if enough vote in favour, the rules are changed and play continues.
The game has been running since 2003 and resets every month or so. Have a look around the wiki for more information and history. New players are always welcome and can join in the game at any time.

I believe it might be beneficial to also consider the Building as complete when a significant number of us have performed Inspections. Maybe we could include a criterion related to the number of Inspections that have taken place? The proposal "Are You Shakesperienced" seems to provide a good measure for determining which Engineers count towards this.
