Create a new subrule to the rule “Ideologies” entitled “Known Ideologies” as follows:

Each Cell has a Known Ideology, which is publicly tracked, and defaults to nothing. At any time, a Cell may update their Known Ideology to match their Ideology; this causes the Cell to become Exposed, and remain Exposed until one second after the next Cycle begins.

Prepend to the bulleted list in the rule “Anonymous Tips” the following:

* Compare the Ideology of the Tip’s Accused with the Known Ideology of the Tip’s Accused; if they are identical, then take no further action on this Tip. Otherwise, continue with the following steps:

This still makes it super easy to coordinate, right?

Recent conversations in #current-dynasty don’t seem to indicate that this would be too much of a change in that regard.

I don’t trust how badly Brendan keeps trying to get this passed

(by this I mean the ability for someone to confirm their ideology)

Hey Clucky, if you have an issue with the rule, I’d rather hear about that than vague accusations of distrust. That’s the kind of discussion that has led to very negative spirals in the very recent past. What you see as “badly keeps trying” is my attempt to iterate and compromise this basic idea in response to feedback on earlier versions. I want a mechanism in the rules to opt out of the Ideology guessing game, with a cost, in a package that’s easy to understand. That’s it.

I feel like I’ve already stated my main issues in previous versions of the proposal that this doesn’t fundamentally change:  part of the push and pull of this dynasty is that while there are advantages to aligning your ideologies with someone, there are also significant risks involved if you trust the wrong person. Getting to broadcast your ideology to everyone in a provable manner, while also protecting yourself against accusations, takes that all away

Thanks, Clucky, that is a line of reasoning I understand and appreciate.

Note to admins that this can’t be timed out until 22:52 UTC today, due to Brendan failing it when it wasn’t (per mild Discord consensus between Josh and Kevan) actually Unpopular, which means it wasn’t “open for voting” during that time.
