Would any of you be interested in a Blognomic IRC channel? I’m not sure that there is enough interest to support such a thing, but I know that I would find it amusing to have one. Topics wouldn’t necessarily have to be Nomic related, although it might be kind of fun for scheming.
IRC is short for Internet Relay Chat. Imagine it as a precursor to modern Instant Messaging, except that all participants are in one channel. You can access the channel (whichever server it is on) with an IRC client, or through a Java applet which connects you through a web page.
I have very little experience with irc, but i’m interested. It’d be extra-spiffy to have the java applet on our site.
BlogNomic is an online Nomic: a self-modifying game where changing the rules is part of the game. Players make blog posts proposing additions or alterations to the ruleset, discussing and casting votes in the comments: if enough vote in favour, the rules are changed and play continues.
The game has been running since 2003 and resets every month or so. Have a look around the wiki for more information and history. New players are always welcome and can join in the game at any time.
