In the rule “Turns”, change the description of the “Rework” Tile Action from

Reduce the Stockpile of a material by one. Pick a stone tile and set its material to that material.

to

Reduce the Stockpile of a material by one. Pick a stone tile and set its material to that material. If that material has a Natural Colour, set its colour to a Natural Colour for that material.

Add a new Tile Action called “Stain a Tile” to the list of Tile Actions in the same rule; put it immediately before “Improve a Tile” and give it the following description:

Pick a tile that is a Natural Colour for its material. Spend the cost of an available Pigment that isn’t one of the material’s Natural Colours, to change the Tile’s colour to the colour of that Pigment.

In the rule “Natural Colors”, add “white” to the list of Natural Colours for Stone and remove “orange” from that list. All orange Stone in the mosaic becomes brown.

Increase the Guilder cost of white pigment by 2.

Integrating Natural Colors properly into the building mechanics, and making it possible to paint something white in the process. The easiest way to implement this was to split painting a painted tile and a natural-colored tile into different actions.

This makes it possible to develop the market for a color to the point where it costs less than white, and then start spending 2 guilders and a Tile Action to paint over the color with white. I don’t love the idea of making it that easy to paint with white and I worry that it could lead to some weird loops.

I think this has some negative side effects with Improve a Tile. Can suddenly not buy 1 cost pigments to replace white tiles. What is the reasoning behind this change?

You can atill replace white stone tiles with any pigment with the new Stain action. This makes white a regular color, rather than a zero-cost exception, when applied to tiles of materials that aren’t naturally white.
