Proposal: The Arena (extended)

Can’t be enacted with 10 votes against, without a change of vote. Failed by Kevan.

Adminned at 04 Jul 2011 11:11:19 UTC

This proposal only takes effect if “Proposal: Setting the Setting” passes.
Create a new wiki page called “The Arena” This page will represent the entire arena, containing a 9x9 grid made to be used like the “Garden Patch” from “The Plants and Zombies Dynasty” This page is updated to reflect current locations of gladiators and whatever else is found in the arena.

This is too vague, although it’s a good idea.

yeah I do think it is very vauge, sorry! i would make it more specific but I dont know where the dynasty is going. the idea is tho make a visual representation that can be fixed later

against .  I recommend that someone make the arena first and then propose to make it official.

against If you don’t add a rule against making arbitrary changes to it, people will just make arbitrary changes to it. Without backing from the rules, it’s a wiki page, not gamestate.

Also, using the same mechanic two dynasties in a row tends to be a bad idea, historically, no matter how good the mechanic itself is.

hmm… I see what you mean. However: do you remember the Gameboard? Seems to be a similar concept. the idea with this proposal is, again, to lay down a basic mechanic which can later be defined and perfected. At this point it is irrelevant, I believe, that arbitrary changes may be made, as no consequential action could occur, seeing as this IS still vague. If it is vague and has no consequence then it at this point all it is is a visual array with no current value, one potential. Was that clear? I do a horrible job at explaining things…

*only potential, not one potential

Doctor29: Instead of making changes like this via proposal, create a rule that states that such and such wiki page represents X gamestate information.  Also, technically referencing previous dynasties like that doesn’t actually mean anything.  My dynasty could be the “Mobilizing Crops dynasty” or something like that.

If you want to bring a similar rule, copy the rule from the actual ruleset instead of lazily saying “like in such and such dynasty”.

well, I see what you’re saying, however, I am using the current label from the dynastic history. And again, this is ONLY to supply a VERY basic infrastructure t.o be built upon

against BlogNomic is all about the rules - if you want to change how the game works, you need to create a rule in the ruleset.
