Proposal: The revenge of the return of the son of the corrected nephew of the proposal-shaped arrows, part IV

Times out and fails 6-9. Ienpw

Create a new rule, “Flavour rewards”:

When voting on a proposal, Commoners should include an arrow icon () in comments in which they vote, if they think the proposal is particularly flavourful or has good flavour text; this is not a voting icon, but can be used additionally to voting icons in the same comment. Within 48 hours of a proposal being enacted or failed, its author can increase his own Coal by the number of EVCs on that proposal that include arrow items, excluding EVCs by the proposal’s author but including EVCs by the Mad Prince, but only if he has not performed this action with respect to that proposal before.

Gah!

Have I missed a rule-change or is this an illegal third pending proposal?

Ah, I see.

Preceding one isn’t a proposal, of course. I keep doing that.

against Don’t really like in-Dynasty rewards for flavor.  I would consider this Rule to encourage Proposal-Authoring Grinding even if it didn’t give the reward out to failed proposals.

against A flavour reward doesn’t seem to fit very neatly into a numbers-and-levers type dynasty. And yes, per Hix, if you can write good flavour you might as well grind out a random, minor mechanic every day.

Note to admins: the Alethioscript Greasemonkey plugin doesn’t report votes correctly when arrows are used, as it treats the arrow icon as the final vote, and ignores it. (It’s currently reporting this as 5-4 rather than 6-4.)

Actually, one significant difference from the original rule from the Caribbean Vacation Dynasty is that you get a Coal for every arrow (rather than a fixed bonus for a quorum of arrows) - this means that any group of friends or collaborating players have no reason not to arrow-up every proposal made by their friends. (And if any of that group wasn’t intending to make proposals this dynasty, they should make a minor proposal every day, to get free coal.)

If we genuinely wanted to reward flavour text, perhaps we could just have the Mad Prince dealing out rewards for any that he likes?
