Create a rule named “Ecology”:

Islands have habitability scores, calculated as follows:
*Flyer Habitability is equal to an island’s altitude
*Runner Habitability is equal to the highest value of any single level
*Climber Habitability is equal to an island’s foliage
*Swimmer habitability is equal to the value of the island’s lowest level

imperial These feel a bit thin as a stub mechanic, when two are straight synonyms.

which two are synonyms?

These aren’t tracked anywhere?

@card: they are calculated rather than tracked. They’re simple attributes of islands

I just mean that “Flyer Habitability” is a straight synonym for Altitude, and “Climber Habitability” a straight synonym for Foliage.

having then tracked somewhere would be nice. i know it’s not necessary from a rules perspective but if they’re important enough it can slow down actions since people need to calculate some of the values for each island instead of reading them off of a table.

[card] I think if something’s just saying “when we say Runner Habitability, we mean the highest Level value” it’s easier and safer to think of it like that, than to have a shadow stat that players have to keep up to date. If there was some future game action that let a player alter one Level of a rival Island, they might not remember to recalculate and update that Island’s Runner and Swimmer Habitabilities.
