Proposal: I know a guy

Self-Killed. Cuddlebeam.

Adminned at 26 Jan 2020 13:08:10 UTC

Create a new rule called “Black Market” with:

Individuals have an amount of Money, defaulting to 0. This is tracked on the Individuals page on its own column. An Individual can Sell An Artefact by removing an Artefact they are holding or have in their Collection from the Ruleset to gain 3 Money. As a Daily Action, an Individual can Hire a Service by paying its Money cost. The following are the Services available for such an action, and their Money cost in “[]” brackets:

- Back Alley Doctor [1]: If you are in Eindhoven, remove 1 Flesh Damage Token from yourself.
- Hitman [2]: Add 1 Flesh Damage to an Individual at a Public Location.
- Safehouse [3]: You become Safehoused: you cannot become the target of the Services of other Individuals until you change Location. This is tracked in the Damage column as “{{safehouse}}”.

Another attempt at clearing out Artefact clutter.

against “Artefact clutter” is still only a problem of you’re winning! For everyone else, artefacts are the way we catch up.

“{{safehouse}}” probably won’t work in a useful way if you haven’t made a template page at Template:Safehouse first (and existing wiki protection clauses prevent you from doing so afterwards, hopefully).

I can’t test this on mobile without a wiki login, but if it renders the rule text as “this is tracked in the damage column as “”“, how do we interpret that?

I think this has a weird (and interesting) interaction with Orphan Variables. OV is supposed to prevent this kind of stuff, but the only requisite for it is a location for it to be tracked, whether or not such a tracking actually works isn’t a factor lmao.

We’ve had variables tracked as being absent before, like, having zero Damage Tokens is tracked by having no Damage Token symbols.

(I assume that the code side of the wiki/Ruleset aren’t proper tracking devices, even if if {{safehouse}} is visible from that end)

Looks like it renders in a wiki page as “Template:Safehouse” in red text, trying it out.

against as the ruleset isn’t entirely reassuring about what happens if the enacting admin enacts this rule, then creates [[Template:Safehouse]] with text of, eg:

safehouse”. The admin who enacted this may update the ruleset in any manner they wish. This is known as “a scam

“Templates contained within [...] Wiki Pages” are gamestate, which prevents us from changing the Flesh Damage template at will, but is this a case of a Template which would be contained in a Wiki Page, but isn’t contained until after it is created?
