Proposal: You’re Going To Need A Bigger Shark

[ Currently, there’s no reason not to try Evil proposals with a GL of zero. ]

In the Rule “Evil Schemes”, replace “If the Overlord votes to VETO an evil proposal, however, this marks it as an excessively clumsy work of evil, and the proposer’s Goatee Length is reduced to 0.” with:-

If the Overlord votes to VETO an evil proposal, however, this marks it as an excessively clumsy work of evil - the proposer’s Goatee Length is reduced to 0, and the shark tank reduces both their Martial Skill and Intelligence by 5.

Actually, currently there is a reason not to try evil proposals, as it prevents you from posting another proposal. But still, I agree that the current evil proposals rule is kina friendly to people with a GL of 0. But reducing the MS and INT by five and the GL seems a bit harsh.

Then again, this would prevent the large amount of silly [evil] proposals just to increase their GL. So for this last reason alone:  for

against COV “shark tank reduces both their Martial Skill and Intelligence by 5” - “both their” can be read as “Overlord’s and Proposer’s”

This is why we should just stick to spivak.  There is no ambiguity whether it is singular or plural.

I do still use Spivak in my proposals tho. And, I try to avoid those pronouns altogether if I can.

Are we gonna switch back to Spivak already? I prefer it, but as long as we aren’t using the abomination “hir”, I’m pretty much okay with it.

This could have been worded more clearly, but I’d have thought that “Martial Skill” and “Intelligence” would have to be plural to make any sense as referring to the traits of two separate players.

Spivak doesn’t automatically safe us from all ambiguous pronouns, though, by a long shot.

The stats need not be plural in my humble opinion, I myself never pluralize attribute words.

Pluralizing would make it clear that you mean both players, but not pluralizing doesn’t make it clear that you don’t mean both players. I wouldn’t have used the plural for either meaning of the sentence.

And yeah, Spivak’s just as open to ambiguity as any other pronoun, but it does prevent singular/plural “they” ambiguousness.
