Proposal: Renovations 1.1

Add to the rule “Sites”:

At any time, an Architect may remove one or more Modules from their Site, leaving one or more empty Squares.

This would allow for more flexibility in placement of modules, as well as adding an extra strategic element - should you erase some modules to allow for better placement, or keep them to have a greater number of modules?

Good point raised about the importance of being able to form unique buildings, but it’s maybe a bit overpowered as a free action. (Particularly if a player can steal the Jailer Civil Title by slicing some modules up, or fix their Oxygen percentage, right into the endgame.)

Might be fairer as a Module that exploded into nothing when dropped.

That’s a good point.

A module that exploded? So might that be something like: “When an Architect builds a Block, they may replace the Modules it contains with empty Squares.” ?

I was thinking a new Module type of “Explosives (E)”, with a rule of “When an Explosives Module would be added to a site, its location instead becomes empty.” - it’d mean that the player who wanted to clear some space would also be forcing their opponents to either do the same, or drop the explosives in a safe place.

But allowing Architects to crash any Module to make an empty footprint of the same shape would be fun too.

Hm, your idea is really interesting too, because as you say it would force opponents to make difficult choices. . .

Shall we do both?

imperial Up to the Architects. I think the Jailer thing risks being a frustrating kingmaker thing at the end (Player A is in the lead as Jailer, Player B is a close second, Player C is third and can’t win but can let Player B win by trashing their own Moonbase to steal Jailer).

Self-killed, in favour of the “Space Junk” proposal.  against
