Proposal: Systemic Party Tricks

Create a dynastic rule “Party Tricks” with the following text:

Certain actions are Party Tricks. Party Tricks are always atomic. A Partygoer may only perform a Party Trick if they are Partying and they haven’t already performed it during the current Party or Grand Party.

As a Party Trick called Chugging, a Partygoer may remove two “Soda” from being held by themselves, and increase their energy by 1.

As a Party Trick called Feasting, a Partygoer may remove one each of “Soda”, “Meat”, “Chips” and “Brownies” from being held by four different Partying Partygoers including themselves, and increase the Party score of each of those Partygoers by four.

As a Party Trick called Balloon Popping, a Partygoer holding a Dart in the Garden may cease to hold that Dart to gain DICE3 minus one Party Score.

As a Party Trick called Cannonball, a Partygoer in the Garden may spend 2 Energy drop all their held objects (except for the Rubber Ducky, if they have it), change their location to the Pool, and gain one Party Score.

Repeal the rule “Energizing” and remove the last paragraph from the rule “Pot Luck”.

This week on Blognomic…

Another Grand Party has taken place, with Bucky coming away as the grand winner following a spectacular cookoff against… pretty much nobody. Trapdoorspyder, the host, was too busy to actually do anything, and by the time that Josh showed up with all of his ingredients Bucky was already halfway done with his dish and Josh figured it wasn’t worth it to make up lost ground.

In other news, Shrimp have been thrown, Energy Drinks have been chugged, and Habanero was discovered towards the end up the party, uh, exactly where they were last time? That’s right, they’ve been floating there in the pool with their increasingly soggy meatloaf every since the last party, playing “Here Comes the Sun” on their guitar because they’ve seen it happen 7 times out there now.

Bucky wins the party to gain 30 medals and the Rubber Ducky. Madrid receives a compensation of 5 medals for losing it. All attendees of the party also gained 1 medal for showing up.

If an Activity is not Ongoing as defined by the Rules of the Game of that Activity, a Partying Partygoer may join

If the Party ceases to be Ongoing before the Activity is Over, the Activity ends without a winner

If there is no ongoing Party or Grand Party, set all Party Scores to 0 and end all Activities that have not already been ended.  If there is an ongoing Party or Grand Party, end all Activities that were not started during the current Party or Grand Party and remove all Party Score gained from Activities that started during the last Grand Party but ended after the Grand Party did.

The current rules would allow someone to join an Activity after it’s Over but before it’s ended, possibly as the Winner for elimination-style games. I’d like that scam gone before I propose any such games.

If there are no valid Responses, there is no Winner.

Story Post: SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY REPORT

At 3:17, the 23rd of October, an individual was seen to be wheeling an unusually large rubber ducky out of a backyard at which a party was taking place. Upon reaching a house two doors down from the location of the party, that same individual stopped in front of that house, and then walked up to the front door, and retrieved a package. They then went back down to the street, walked another house down, and wheeled the rubber ducky inside.

Police Chief’s notes: The individual was later found to be Madrid, and the package determined to contain 30 medals. The incredible fact that they were able to steal a ginormous, six foot tall, neon yellow rubber ducky from an active party in broad daylight is only explained by the fact that every people actually attending the party were distracted by several individuals leaping head first into the pool, apparently complete with several platters of food and one guitar. No explanation has been found for either of those two actions. Due to the minor consequences of this event and the fact that I really don’t want to know what’s going on here, I have decided not to investigate further.

Partygoers alone in the Bathroom may transfer Objects they’re holding to the Stash or remove Objects from the Stash to start holding them. While the Rubber Ducky is in the Stash, the last Partygoer (whether Partying or not) to be Holder of the Rubber Ducky remains Holder of the Rubber Ducky. The Bathroom Stash empties after each Party is resolved.

A Partygoer who is in the Kitchen and not holding any Objects may start holding “Soda”.

A new game’s Reward should generally be assigned so that the expected (average) value of the Party Score gained by each participant of an associated Activity played to completion is roughly equal to twice the energy it cost them.

Change the Reward for Darts to 18, and subtract 57 from the Party Score of every Partygoer who has won a game of Darts during the current Party or Grand Party.

Wherever the phrase “The Partygoer with the highest Party score wins” appears in the Dynastic Rules, replace it with “The Partygoer with the highest Party score, excluding the Host, wins”

The main point of this is to keep the Host from being immune to any clever Ducky-snatching tricks by virtue of not being a Partygoer.

Figuring out if you got all the win/lose and end conditions is still a nightmare while creating the game, but at least this way it should be readable in the ruleset. (Dunno if a proposal for this is strictly necessary, but I’d rather get it formally done than not)

Within 24 hours of the Activity becoming ongoing, each member of this Activity must post a response to the activity post, where [Response] is the word “Throw” followed by an integer between 1 and 10, inclusive (a throw response). Then within 12 hours of all 3 throw responses being received, one member must post a Response to this Activity where [Response] is the word “Bullseye”, followed by a randomly chosen number between 1 and 10, inclusive (a bullseye response). If the bullseye response does not contain the same number as either throw response, a new bullseye response must be made, repeating until it matches any throw response. If the amount of Unidle Players is above 5, then the rest of this rule does nothing.

Partygoers are Conscious or Unconscious, defaulting to Conscious. Unconscious Partygoers cannot take dynastic actions. At the first moment that only exactly one Partygoer is Conscious, that Partygoer has achieved victory.

Once a Partygoer becomes Unconscious, they cannot become Conscious again. If nobody has done so in the last 48 hours, a Partygoer can make a random Conscious Partygoer Unconscious. Partygoers are encouraged to make Proposals that intend to make some set of Partygoers Unconscious.

When a Partygoer goes from Idle to Unidle, or Unidle to Idle, that Partygoer has Idleflipped. A Partygoer can only Idleflip once every four days (96 hours).

Any Idle or Unidle Partygoer can Idleflip themselves by making a blog post that is clearly and unambiguously to this effect.

Activities are a type of Event.

An Activity has a Game associated with it.

Any Partygoer who is Partying can start an Activity by spending the amount of Energy specified in the Cost of the Game of the Activity and making a post which defines the Game of the Activity. The post’s title must include the tag [Activity]. A Partygoer can only start an Activity if the Location of that Activity’s Game is the same as their Location.

Responses to the Activity can either be “Join” or “Move: [Response]”, where [Response] is a value defined by the rules of the Game of the Activity.

If an Activity is not Ongoing as defined by the Rules of the Game of that Activity, a Partygoer may join that Activity by commenting a “Join” Response to the activity post and spending an amount of Energy defined by the Cost of the Game of that Activity. A Partygoer can only join an Activity if the Location of that Activity’s Game is the same as their own Location.

A Partygoer that starts an Activity is considered to be the Captain of that Activity. A Partygoer that joins or is the Captain of an Activity is considered to be a Member of that Activity.

Only the Captain of an Activity may end that Activity, and only when the Activity is Over as defined by the Rules of the Game of the Activity.

When an Activity is ended, the Party Score of the Winner of the Activity (as defined by the Rules of the Game of the Activity) is increased by the amount defined by the Reward of the Game of the Activity.

A Game consists of a Name, Rules, a Location, a Cost and a Reward. The following is a list of Games:

At any point as a daily action, as long as there is not an ongoing Party or Grand Party and it is neither at least 60 hours prior to Wednesday or Wednesday itself, a player may begin a Party. If there is an ongoing Party, that fact is publicly tracked, along with when it was started and all Partygoers that have joined it.. Parties may consist of any number of partygoers. A Partygoer may join the current party at any time, and the Holder of the Rubber Ducky (if there is one) is automatically assumed to be in any ongoing parties.

If it has been over 48 hours since the current Party was started, partygoers can no longer join the current Party and the Host should resolve that party as soon as possible as long as they have not already done so, using the following atomic action:
- The Partygoer with the highest Party score for the current Party wins the party. If there is a tie, the winner is decided secretly randomly among all partygoers that tied for the most points.
- If that Partygoer is the current Holder of the Rubber Ducky, they gain 15 points, otherwise possession of the Rubber Ducky is transferred to them and they gain 10 points.
- All Partygoer’s Party Points are set to 0
- The current Party ceases to be ongoing, and may not become ongoing again.
- The Host publishes a story post summarizing the events of that party and who won that party.

Add the following rule to the ruleset, called “The Grand Party”:

Once each week, on the Wednesday or as soon as possible thereafter of that week, the Host shall start a Grand Party. If there is an ongoing Grand Party, that fact is publicly tracked, along with when it was started and all Partygoers who have joined the current Grand Party. Partygoers may join the Grand Party at any time.

If it has been 48 hours since the current Grand Party was started, then Partygoers may no longer join the current Grand Party, and the Host should resolve it at their earliest convenience as long as they have not already done so, using the following atomic action:
- The current Holder of the Rubber Ducky gains 5 points, and then possession of the Rubber Ducky is Transferred to the Host.
- The Partygoer with the highest Party score for the current Grand Party wins the Grand Party. If there is a tie, the winner is decided secretly randomly among all Partygoers that tied for the most points.
- That Partygoer gains 30 points and possession of the Rubber Ducky.
- All Partygoer’s Party Points are set to 0.
- The current Party ceases to be ongoing, and may not become ongoing again.
- The Host publishes a story post summarizing the events of that Grand Party, and the Partygoer that won it.


Add the following rule to the ruleset, known as “A Slight Delay”:

No Parties or Grand Parties may be started. If the current date is on or after October 18, any player may repeal this rule.

The main thing for this dynasty: you can hold parties for the person holding the rubber ducky, and the person holding the rubber ducky should try and hold on to it. I’ve tried to include generous reaction times so that no one feels rushed. The exact content of parties is up to all of you though: the Host only has so much control over what people do at their parties.

Raven1207 appears to have overlooked that a Baron may only use the Immigration Station with no Migrant workers, and has done Exploitation with no such worker available. This is less of an issue than the headaches that an attempted rollback would cause, and also less of an advantage than Raven1207 would have gotten from recruiting Migrants the first time they took the labour action to increase productivity of future activations. Therefore,

As a Labour Action, a Baron may Battle. To Battle, a Baron chooses a Besieged Keep. If the Baron is Hostile to that Keep, he may Activate any subset of the Engines in that Keep using Migrants in his Levy in the same location as those Engines. If the Baron is not Hostile to that keep, he also chooses a Slot in that Keep where he has a Levy member and Skirmishes there. If the total Power of the Baron’s Levy in that slot combined with (if it’s a different Levy) the Levy of the Keep’s owner in that Slot (collectively, the Skirmishers for that Battle) is greater than the total Resilience of the hostile Migrants there, then any of those Hostile Migrants whose Sneakiness is less than the total Smarts of the Skirmishers are expelled to the Inner Slums.

Proposal: The End is Nigh

Add a new subrule to “Sieging” titled “Humanity’s Conquest”:

The humans are getting quite tired of our underground settlement; they grow restless with no monsters on the surface to satiate their need for bloodshed. Migrants in a Human King’s Levy are always considered to be participating in a Siege against monster-kind as a whole.

If the date is on or after October 8, 2022, then as a Daily Communal Action any Baron may Take Note of the Invaders by performing the following atomic action:
*Add a Migrant (human) to the Exterior of a random Keep owned by a Baron, with allegiance to a random Human King At War with that Baron, and optionally any name.
*Repeat the previous step a number of times equal to the number of full 24 hour periods that have passed since the start of October 8, 2022.

Any Baron may Intensify Sieges on behalf of a Human King so long as it would be legal for that Human King to do so (the Intensify action is carried out in the same way and under the same conditions for a Human King as it would be for a Baron, and the time a Human King last Intensified their Sieges is also publicly tracked and defaults to September 20, 0:00).

Add a new subrule to “Keeps” titled “In Ruins”:

A Baron’s Keep is considered Breached if it has no Defensive Infrastructures with greater than 0 hit points and there is at least one Migrant Hostile to that Baron in their Keep’s Exterior. Additionally, a Baron’s Keep is considered Breached if the time they last unidled is on or after October 8, 2022.

A Baron with a Breached Keep cannot take any dynastic actions not specified in this rule and cannot achieve victory by means of the rule “Influence”. A Baron with a Breached Keep can, however, Take Matters into their Own Hands as a Daily Action by removing any one Migrant in a Human King’s Levy and in the Exterior of a Keep from the game.

If one or fewer Barons have a non-Breached Keep, then the last Baron to have a non-Breached Keep has achieved victory. If multiple Barons are in a tie for this position (for example by the last two standing Keeps becoming Breached in the same Intensify action), then the victor is determined publicly randomly.

Add a new Infrastructure to the list in “Infrastructure”:

In every Baron’s Keep, add an instance of the Infrastructure Makeshift Wall to the first slot it can legally go in, if one exists.

*Each Equipped Migrant that is part of their Levy and participating in a Siege reduces the Hit Points of the outermost Defensive of the Keep they are Besieging structure by 20.

*Each non-Equipped Migrant that is part of their Levy and participating in a Siege reduces the Hit Points of the outermost Defensive Infrastructure with more than 0 hit points of the Keep they are Besieging by 10.

My take on an accelerated endgame that still uses the mechanics we have so far; the humans are out for blood now. Also fixing Sieges; as it stands now the hit points of the outermost infrastructure stay at 0 forever instead of going to the next innermost infrastructure.

Create a new rule with the following name: Achieving Victory. It’s text is to be as follows:

At any time, a Baron may do the following atomic action called “Flipping the Coin” as long as it has not already been done so:
*Rolling DICE2 in the Dice Roller
If the atomic action Flipping the Coin as been done, it’s result is publicly tracked.
If the result of Flipping the Coin is 1, the player named Bucky has achieved victory.
If the result of Flipping the Coin is 2, the player named Trapdoorspyder has achieved victory.

An alternative if people really don’t want a metadynasty.

Repeal all Dynastic Rules.
Close all bounties.
Set all Special Case Rules to their default states.
Set the player term to Player and the emperor term to Emperor.
Start a new Dynasty with no emperor called The Eleventh Metadynasty.

I think it’s time. We’re down to four people and it’s not going back up.
