This is the second Voting Event.
Note that this is possible because Devenger has gone Idle. As per Rule 1.2 Contestants, Devenger does not count as a Contestant for the purposes of Subrule 2.1.3 Voting Events. By this logic, no Contestant has ever become an Outsider, so a new Voting Event may take place.

Add a new subrule to the Rule entitled “Voting Events” Call it “Take it like a man” and give it the following text:
Insiders cannot become Idle if a Voting Event has been started in the past 24 hours.
In the Rule entitled “In or Out”, change the text
legal values are blank, and the names of all non-Host Contestants.
to
legal values are blank, the names of all non-Host Contestants, and the names of Idle Contestants who have become Idle since the last time a Contestant became an Outsider. If a Contestant’s Vote would ever become illegal, it becomes blank instead.
Add the following text to the end of the Rule entitled “Social Structure”:
If a Contestant becomes Idle, all Insiders who support that Contestant have their Support changed to the Support of the Contestant who became Idle. If this would cause a Contestant to have an illegal Support statistic, that Contestant’s Support is instead reset to its default value.
The first change prevents a Contestant from hosing someone else by ducking out in the middle of a voting event and back in. The second solves a problem with idling-induced illegal votes in a way that doesn’t make strategic self-idling directly abuseable. The last change solves the same problem for Support, but in a way that disrupts the social structure as little as possible.

Create a new Dynastic Rule titled “Stirring the Pot†with the following text:
When a Contestant’s Location is set to ‘Kitchen’, as a weekly action, that Contestant may ‘Make Soup’. The Contestant makes a post to the blog entitled ‘Y’s Soup’ where Y is the name of that Contestant. The post must detail the color, obtained by rolling ‘COLOR’ in the GNDT, of the soup that the Contestant has created. Each Contestant may make a comment to the post once with a For icon symbolising that they have ‘Stirred the Pot’. Upon making the comment, that Contestant rolls COLOR in the GNDT. If the Contestant rolls the same color as the soup, that Contestant increases their Luck by 1, and rolls COLOR in the GNDT once more. If the color rolled is once again the same as the color of the soup, the Contestant has “Hit the Jack Pot†and increases their Fame by 2 and their Luck by an additional 1. When the number of For votes reaches Quorum, if they have not already done so, the Contestant who Made Soup may increase their Fame by 1.
Create a new subrule to Stirring the Pot titled “Soup’s Gone Flat†with the following text:
Whenever a Contestant has “Stirred the Pot†by commenting on a post more than 72 hours after it was created, that Contestant treats their corresponding COLOR roll as if it were “Burnt Siena.â€
Includes the suggested fixes. Note that the GNDT automatically changes COLOR to COLOUR and rolls it, so that part is fine.
The concept is that Contestants are stirring in new ingredients to try to improve the Soup. If they roll the same color, they have done something to increase the Soup’s quality; if they roll a different color, they’ve obviously messed something up, so they derive no benefit.

I have ordered a bunch of food. I hope a Cessna 500 fits in the fridge.
And good timing, too. I doubt that the fruit is very good for our health.

I just fixed the camera above me, after the sparks started burning my diary.
Woo.
I hear that your food has been ruined, so here’s a chance to order some more.
I have placed an order pad in the reward room; I’m interested in seeing what sort of orders you come up with (put them in the comments whilst in the Reward Room). If you aren’t allowed in the room, you’ll have to persuade someone else to write your requests down for you. (See, winning challenges is good for something!) There won’t be a charge for this, although if anything you request is too expensive we just won’t buy it.
Anybody have a 4?
I finally got some sleep! I dreamed I was still in the bunker and all the contestants were digging new rooms, but not with shovels; we were eating our way through the substance which enclosed the bunker. I realized that we were inside a giant Tangelo. The Host was shouting “Eat! Eat! We’re running out of time - it’s turning rotten!”
Then I woke up, jumped out of bed and slammed into a wall that hadn’t been there before. This place is breaking me down. I heard Devenger and Kevan couldn’t take it anymore.
I’ve got to keep focused on the challenge. It’s difficult to decide how to play it. I’ll need to put two of my numbers in a safe range. I don’t want to fail this one.
Devenger hasn’t commented or posted for over a week, and has been set idle, the silly fool. Quorum falls to 11.
I’m not exactly sure what happens now there are a bunch of illegal values in the GNDT. Have fun!
Nobody ever knew where he disappeared to once he was voted out. Some say he went back in time and fought in a phony war for a confused Orwellian state. Others still say he joined some sort of defence agency responsible for protecting the world from planar entities. They’re probably all lying.

24 hours after the post is created, if no Insider has become an Outsider since the post was created, the two Insiders with the most other Insiders Voting for them
Currently, if the Contestant who would otherwise be voted out hits a Quorum of votes during a Voting Event, the second-worst contestant automatically gets the boot while the votes of everyone switched to vote for the Quorum’d contestant don’t count.
It’s been a rough few days. On Wednesday, someone tampered with the fridge. We lost almost all our meat. The frozen food survived, including the chuck. We also still have all our dry food. I’ll make chuck&rice casserole until we get another food shipment. That will get old fast, but the only real alternative is to eat the chuck and rice separately.
A lot of us -myself included- have been supplementing our rations with fruit from the indoor garden, with mixed results. About a dozen meals have been lost between us to fruit-induced vomiting. I have no clue what chemicals they’ve used to keep the plants healthy, but they aren’t as healthy for humans. If someone’s acting strangely, it’s probably either the fruit’s fault or Rodlen.
I had a dream last night about the ol’ BuckyStar Café. I wonder how Mel’s handling things now that I’m gone. I thought the show would only take a few weeks to film, but it’s been almost a month now with no end in sight. *sigh*. Perhaps I’m more homesick than I think.
Time for another challenge!
To have any chance of succeeding at this challenge, you need to PM me a message with nothing but three different integers which are each from 0 to 100 inclusive. Only the first such message from any given player will count; I’ll ignore any further ones. Also, this challenge ends on Monday, so you have the weekend to meet it. A “unique” number is a number that exactly one Contestant submits this way.
I remind the contestants that every failure removes $10,000 from the prize fund, so you may want to discuss your strategy before sending the PMs (the comments to this post would be a good place). Remember, though, nothing forces people to actually do / have done what they claim they’ll do / have done here!
[Title sequence.]
[Diary entries play]
[Outside. There is a beach; on the sea, a container ship can be seen receding into the distance, and the wreckage of a tower crane is clearly visible. A cameraman is setting up a camera.]
The diary-room camera has never worked. However, when I went down to the camera run; I found a few Polaroid photos; it seems the cameraman has been resourceful about such things, or maybe he took “cameraman” rather too literally. The graphic artists back at the TV company HQ did a good job trying to get the lips to move in sync with the words, though, so hopefully nobody will notice.

that Contestant treats whatever DICE roll they roll as if it were a 10.
to:
that Contestant treats their next DICE roll for the Fruit Effects Table as if it were a 10.
This is simply a clarification of the existing Rule, so I can CfJ it.
This is clearing up the Rule so that it can’t be interpreted as applying ad infinitum. Otherwise, it might be interpreted as “All of a Contestant’s future DICE rolls count as 10s.”
I had the craziest Dream last night! I was on Mars, that I was sure of, but I couldn’t quite figure out what I was doing. I seemed to be speeding across the surface of the planet at insane speeds. I was drag racing! But there was some small element I was missing, something on the tip of my tongue . . . tip of my tongue . . . tasting . . . food? Eating? Moon Cheese? All of a sudden, some General dressed in military gear appeared, named Amnigalaxy or something, and demanded that he was a gourmet. Of course! As the dream faded away, I was left wondering whether anyone else has had such strange dreams.
I feel tired from all that Gourmet Drag Racing On Mars. . . .
How would people feel about a proposal that did the following?
Add after the first sentence of Rule 2.5:
For example, if the Character Claude_Monet posted a diary entry on the first of January the proper title would be: Diary Entry - 01/01 Claude_Monet
I still don’t quite get why this rule is so confusing as written, but since it has spawned two CfJs, neither of which clearly solve the problem, a rule based fix seems in order, but I need to understand the confusion to fix the problem. Notably, this example shows what I think the rule already says, since the outermost quotes contain the required title language and “Name” and “mm/dd” are defined terms in the rule.

I *LOVE* cherries! Dig in!
I don’t understand this at all. I’ve been standing in the kitchen for absolutely ages and still no one has tried cooking. I actually managed to send an order for ingredients out but when they arrived I discovered that after Wakukee’s attempt to make everything work water now comes out of the gas rings on the stove and all the ordered food required cooking before eating the fridge however turned out to be where the gas ended up so all the food had to be thrown out. The bill has been sent to the host as he is the only one with any money. I fear however that this may require it to come out of the prize fund. Oh well at least I tried.
For those who care the bill for enough food for the number currently present runs to £672.
The random cutoff time I selected for the first challenge was: Tue May 26 09:59:54 UTC 2009
Therefore:
Psychotipath, Bucky, Qwazukee, delta, Kevan, yuri_dragon_17, Oze, Darth Cliche, Darknight, Rodlen, arthexis, Yoda, and SingularByte Succeed at this challenge; all other contestants Fail.
SingularByte is the Challenge Champion, chickening out less than an hour before the cutoff time.
However, there is a twist. 13 Contestants succeeded; the other 9 failed. And for each challenge failure from now on, we’re going to remove $10,000 from the prize fund.
Therefore: The Prize Fund now stands at $910,001.
The successful Contestants may now enter the Reward Room.

to:
Each Contestant has a numerical statistic called “Looksâ€, tracked by the GNDT, which determines the relative attractiveness of the Contestant in regards to other Contestants. A Contestant’s Looks is always an integer from 0 to 20 inclusive; any action that would cause a Contestant’s Looks to exceed 20 instead causes that Contestant’s fame to decrease by 1. New Contestants and Unidling Contestants with no Looks shall set their Looks to 5.
It seems silly that continuing to work out can make people more attractive ad infinitum. In addition, being too attractive, or too obsessed with being attractive, can make the viewing public like a Character less.
Oranges. Bright, juicy oranges. Just the thing to remind you that you could be outside on a beautiful summer day, but instead you are cooped up in a reality TV bunker. =)
I am still trying to get used to the pace of life around here. It seems like everyone just sits around doing nothing for 95% of the time and then in a burst of activity does a dozen things in an hour. I figure it must be the isolation getting to us all. That, and the rampant insomnia - it seems like no one is able to sleep around here! Oh well, I seem to have eaten all of the fruit in the kitchen; maybe I will go pick some more. The grow lamps in the garden seem to be the closest any of us are getting to real sunlight, hopefully some exposure will help re-set my biological clock and I can finally take a nap.
Well, my search of the crates came up with some good things. Some more microwavable meals. A few snacks as well. Frying pan. A few assorted tools. Some of that “Bonk!” energy drink. A first aid kit. I also found some old computer games. Also, I found someone called “yuri_dragon_17” hiding in a crate, doing creepy things. That was an…interesting...experience.
However, the most interesting thing I found was a key. A shiny black key. Rather large one. The host snatched it out of my hands very quickly, though.
I brought the things I found up, and used the tools to adjust the TV so we could get the DDA Entertainment Channel. I love that “Adventures of High Command” show. Hilarious. Heh. I still remember the days when High Command used to change our name over and over and over again.
Well, Bucky seems happy to see the new frying pan.

As a weekly action, a Contestant (known as the Boogie Man) can attempt to lock another Contestant (the Victim) in the Basement by making a comment in the GNDT with the text “Trapping X” where X is the name of the Victim. The Boogie Man and the Victim need to be located in the same room, or the attempt fails automatically. Then, the Boogie Man makes a roll of DICEX, where X is their Looks. If the result is greater than the Victim’s Fame, the attempt succeeds and the Victim’s location is changed to the Basement.

The Contestant then takes the roll to the ‘Sleep Effects Table’ below. If the dice roll is 1, the effect in the row titled ‘1’ is applied; if the dice roll is between 2 and 5 inclusive, the effect in the row titled ‘2-5’ is applied; if the dice roll is 6 or 7, the effect in the row titled ‘6-7’ is applied; if the dice roll is 8 or 9, the effect in the row titled ‘8-9’ is applied; and if the dice roll is 10, the effect in the row titled ‘10’ is applied.
Sleep Effects Table:
1 The Contestant gets just enough Beauty Sleep; they increase their own Looks by 1.
2-5 The Contestant enjoys getting a good night’s rest. Nothing happens.
6-7 The Contestant has a fantastic rest away from the craziness of the bunker. The Contestant increases their own Luck by 1.
8-9 The Contestant has a vivid Dream. If the Contestant discusses this Dream in their next Diary Entry, then they may increase their Fame by 1 after making that Diary Entry.

If either no Contestant has ever become an Outsider, or at least 6 days have elapsed since the last time a Contestant became an Outsider, and there is no ongoing Voting Event, any Contestant may start a Voting Event by making a Story Post stating this. 24 hours after the post is created, the two Insiders with the most other Insiders Voting for them count as Nominated Contestants for the purpose of that Voting Event (all of the Insiders involved in a tie for the top-two-most-voted places become Nominated Contestants, if there is one, meaning that more than two Insiders can become Nominated). The Popularity of each of the Nominated Contestants for that Event is then calculated as follows, by starting at 0 and adding/subtracting the following modifiers:
- +10 for each point of Fame that Contestant has;
- +1 for each point of Looks that that Contestant has;
- +3 for each point of Luck that that Contestant has;
- +5 for each Insider who Supports that Contestant;
- -12 for each Insider who is Voting for that Contestant.
The Nominated Contestant with the lowest Popularity then becomes an Outsider; if there is a tie for lowest Popularity, all Nominated Contestants involved in that tie become Outsiders. (The fact that someone may have been Nominated in one Voting Event is irrelevant for all other Voting Events.)

Any post made by a Contestant while in any room other than the Diary Room is not a Diary Entry, and never can be.
It was actually really hard to phrase this acceptably. This is in response to arthexis’ last “Diary Entry,” which was made outside of the Diary Room. Under the terms of the CfJ immediately before this one, arthexis’ entry might have been considered a legitimate Diary Entry, as an “indisputable attempt.”
What the hell is going on now?! Was that just an earthquake this morning? No, not at all, that felt like an explosion in the outside! But… how do I know that? Have I been close to explosions previously in my life? This place is indeed a bunker, I’ve made sure to check every sealed door and window, we are quite a bit below the ground. Are we some sort of post-apocalyptic survivors? Or maybe some kind of test subjects? Are we better down here or up there?
It doesn’t matter, staying here will not reveal who I am. I need to know why I’m here, and what’s my past. I have to go to the outside even if it’s the last thing I do. Today I went to the gym to exercise, make sure that I am still on shape, just in case it’s needed… and I have a hunch it will be. Outside, here I come!

Earlier today, I was about to split my kiwis with the other smiths who came out of the kitchen drain but then Yoda showed up. He was like twenty feet tall and shouting gibberish, so we ran for it. The Ruleset contains very specific Rules for the titling of Diary Entries. Thus, several Diary Entries (5 that I’ve counted) don’t actually qualify as Diary Entries due to very minor titling issues. If this CfJ passes, allow all entries that are clear, undisputable attempts at Diary Entries to be counted as Diary Entries.
Because I don’t want to exclude things for reasons like “Didn’t capitalize an E” and “accidentally mistyped the month.”

In the Dynastic Rule called “Confrontation”, change the text
Whichever Rival rolls the higher number is declared the Fight Victor; the Rival with the lower number is the Fight Loser.
to
Whichever Rival rolls the higher number is declared the Fight Victor; the Rival with the lower number is the Fight Loser. If both Rivals rolled the same number, they both gain 1 Fame and the Confrontation ends with no further effects.
This makes a tie the inverse of a double no-show. Currently, the result of a tie is undefined.

Add a new rule to the ruleset called “Playing with Fire” and give it the following text
There is a status in the GNDT called “Conscience” which is either “Guilty” or “Not Guilty” and is Not Guilty by default.
If an insider’s conscience is “not guilty” and all the other contestants (if they exist) in the room that he is in support him, he may set his conscience to “Guilty” and preform any daily action an additional time. (regardless of the last time he preformed such an action).
Every time a filming occurs, if a contestant’s conscience is “guilty” and he is in the same room as the filming, he loses one fame instead of gaining one. Immediately after the filming occurs, all contestants consciences are set to not guilty.
[Slightly toned-down title sequence; the rough edges indicate it was clearly modified in a hurry.]
Welcome back to this double episode of Reality TV! Today, we bring you footage from the gym and the lounge.
firefaux is busy working on the exercise bike; I’m not sure if he’s being public-spirited and helping us to generate electricity, or just looking for something to sit on. smith is trying to play single-player table tennis whilst reciting the digits of pi; he’s obviously getting a lot of exercise running round and round the table, although the ball keeps falling off. yuri_dragon_17 is on the rowing machine; it seems as though he’s had a rough day, and is trying to calm down.
Meanwhile, in the lounge, many of the contestants are sitting on the sofa chatting. Kevan is busy staring into a camera; wait, that’s the cameraman [camera turns around to point in the correct direction]. Ah, that’s better. Kevan is busy staring into the camera run, trying to figure out where the cameras are. spikebrennan is busy discussing poetry with Yoda; spikebrennan’s poetry sounds beautiful, but it’s Japanese so I don’t understand it, and Yoda seems to be into nonsense verse, which is actually rather soothing to listen to. Devenger is sitting on his own; many of the other contestants seem rather suspicious of him. Maybe he’ll be the first to be voted out. tuxhedoh is there too, I know people were trying to persuade him to vote for Devenger earlier, but I’m not sure if he was convinced.
Ah, the first Challenge has been announced, the topic of conversation’s changed now. We’ve installed a big red button for people to press so that they can chicken out; everyone’s ignoring it for the time being, but no doubt we’ll see many presses of it later. And here’s a new contestant arriving; welcome Clucky! Whoops, look at the time, we have to go.
See you next time!
Yes, this post is for yesterday too.
Welcome to Reality TV‘s first challenge! This one is a simple game of guessing and daring.
I have chosen a random time (to be precise, a random second) which is on either Monday or Tuesday next week (i.e. in about 2 or 3 days’ time). I’ll keep it secret until the challenge ends.
Good luck, everyone!
Incidentally, the rather large time range is to reduce the impact of timezones on the result of the challenge. And the delay before starting’s to give everyone a chance to read the rules.

Set the Host’s Status, Vote Support, Fame and, if either exists at the time of this proposal, Luck and Looks to blank.
Add a new room to the list of rooms in rule 2.3 called the “Control Room.”
Add the following language to the end of Rule 2.3:
The Host, and only the Host, may occupy the Control Room
If the proposal “The Host has entered the Bunker” fails, set the Host’s location to the Control Room
The last sentence attempts to implement what seems to be an emerging understanding Rule 2.6 “Hands Off,” namely that the Host lacks any of the attributes created by the ruleset, except, possibly location. This proposal then essentially serves as a referendum on whether that is the general interpretation.

Add the following text to the end of Rule 2.3(The Bunker) and Rule 2.7(Rewards)
The Host is considered a Contestant for the purposes of this Rule and its subrules.
The Host can enter rooms and use the abilities of Rewards. Not much to say here. Note that the Abilities of Rewards can’t affect the gamestate yet.
As per the powers given to us in 1.7 Gamestate Tracking, I fixed some errors I saw in the gamestate. Devenger was turned into an Outsider by the change of two votes, both of which I think were illegal: my vote was changed to Devenger, despite the fact that my support was also Devenger, and ais523’s vote was changed even though, as Host, he is excluded by most rules, including 2.1.2
(Also note, that I changed my vote and Devenger’s vote accidentally while fumbling with the GNDT. It has a will of its own, sometimes. I fixed those mistakes.)

I accidentally changed from Victor to Winner here; without this change, the winner of the confrontation cannot gain any fame.

Add a sub-rule to the rule In or Out? entitled Voting Out:
Once per week, and not more often that once every 72 hours, any contestant may make a post saying that they are commencing a Vote Out. Any and all other Contestants may comment on a post containing the name of one other contestant. Voting ends when at least a Quorum of Contestants have commented on that post. Whichever Contestant’s name appears most frequently in the text of the comments when voting concludes becomes an Outsider.
Passes 12-0. TAE and Tuxhedoh are the only ones who need to be reverted, which I’ll do now. - Qwazukee
Adminned at 26 May 2009 18:35:50 UTC
Actually two problems here, but one’s already been challenged and reverted in the GNDT so I might as well CfJ it:-
Action to be taken: set TAE, Tuxhedoh and Yuri’s votes to blank (unless, in each case, that Contestant has changed their own Vote since this CfJ was made).
Bout time people stopped flooding this room, sheesh. Anyway, been here afew days now, managed to team with some people. I’m not one for long speeches so I’ll make this quick. Some of the guys are good teammates, some seem like I should get rid of them asap, and others…. well, they’ll prob be their own down fall.

Create a new Dynastic Rule entitled “Luck” with the following text:
Each Contestant has a Luck score, representing the amount of natural luck that Contestant has in their life. Each Contestant’s Luck starts at zero.
Create a new Dynastic Rule entitled “Go Fish” with the following text:
When a Contestant’s Location is set to ‘Lounge’, as a weekly action, that Contestant may play the card game ‘Go Fish’. The Contestant makes a post to the blog entitled ‘Y’s Go Fish’ where Y is the name of that Contestant. In the post, the Contestant includes one and only one number from 1 to 13, inclusive. Each Contestant may make a comment to the post once with a For icon symbolising that they have ‘Gone Fishing’. Upon making the comment, that Contestant rolls DICE13 in the GNDT. If that Contestant rolls the same number that is in the post, that Contestant increases their own Luck by 1. When the number of For votes reaches Quorum, the Contestant who played ‘Go Fish’ may increase their Fame by 1.
If at least half of the counted votes on this proposal included the text “It’s better to be lucky than . . . not,†then create a new Dynastic Rule entitled “Putting Luck to Good Use” with the following text:
A Contestant may “Press My Luck” at any time by decrementing their own Luck by 1, so long as this does not reduce their Luck below 0. When the Contestant decides to “Press My Luck,” they may treat any one of their own DICE rolls as if they had rolled 1 more or less than they actually did. Whenever they do this, the Contestant must make a Story Post explaining the miraculous event that took place, which somewhere describes what the DICE roll was and what it is now being treated as. The Contestant may not change the new DICE value once the Story Post has been made.
Note that the Press My Luck cannot stack, and the DICE roll can only be treated as 1 different no matter how many Luck are spent.
I’m feeling good!
The fruit in this garden is delicious! I’ve seen a few guys crawling to the bathroom like they’re ill, but I don’t understand why; I could hardly enjoy this fruit more. I’ve had a couple epiphanies; I can see that Oze is voting against me, so I thought, “Hey! Treat others as you would want to be treated.” So I figured, I would want Oze to support me, so I should support him! Hey! I feel great about this decision.
In fact, I’m feeling a bit hyper. I might just run back over to the gym.
Hey look! I found Oranges! (ignore any references to corpses, including this one)
Eureka! Kiwis!
I found some tangelos for dimensional stability! And stomach stability too, I hope.
I’m going to need a bigger gun. Plan is working. DDA uniform hidden. BuckyStar Cafe reopened here. Heh. I remember that crazy dimension’s one. And is that the interdimensional equivalent of Mr. Smith?
Found the basement. Just crates in there right now. Will open crates soon, for dimensional stability.
I wonder why High Command sent me on this mission.
Today I snuck down into the indoor garden to see if any fruits were ripe. I saw a lemon tree and remembered that one time I ate an entire lemon and felt awful. I decided to show how manly I was by doing this awful thing, so I picked a basket and brought it out. I gathered a bunch of the others and quickly ate two whole lemons, demonstrating how impressive I am. Boy, was that a mistake. I ran to the biffy and immediately filled the toilet with the contents of my stomach. The others were *NOT* impressed.
When I came out of the toilet, Influenza brought up some cherries. I popped a few into my mouth to get rid of the nasty taste… I suppose I should have known better. Influenza’s (coincidence?) fruits caused me to vomit violently again.
Then came devenger with a bag of oranges. I thought, 3rd time’s a charm, and ate one. Then I saw a huge swarm of rats in the bag (devenger says I was seeing things), instead of oranges and freaked, running and screaming all over the bunker, crashing into lamps (sorry Wak) and then I collapsed on the floor of the kitchen.
When I came too, I realized some of the guys had drawn all over my face :(
I’m going to have to do better next week, but for now, I think I’ll get some sleep.
What a day.
HI EFFERIONE! II SFÖUND SÖM ÅRÅNGES!
“Hey everyone! I found some oranges!”
The cherries here are delicious, or at least, I think they’re cherries. I found a bush in the Indoor Garden, between the two tall oak trees, anyone wanna try some?
Yum yum yum. I’m picking lemons. Who wants some!

Create a sub-rule “Diary Room Footage” under rule “Dear Diary”:
There exists a wiki document called “Diary Entries” which contains a chronologically ordered list (for oldest to newest) of Diary Entries and nothing else. At any time, if the content of a Diary Entry post does not exist in the Diary Entries document, any Contestant may add the content of said post to the document, as long as the chronological order of the posts is maintained within the document. This document may not be modified in any other manner.
You’ve all written some quite amusing diary entries, so it’s fair that we somehow archive them for posterity. Maybe we can do something with the document too.
Join us in the Lounge for BuckyStar Café‘s specialty burgers. Due to rationing, we can only have one burger each. I made a few extras, though, so I’ll leave them on a tray and turn my back while they mysteriously disappear.

Add a dynastic rule called “Challenges” with the following text:
A Challenge is a competition between contestants; only one challenge may be ongoing at a time, and thereafter is finished. When a challenge finishes, each Contestant has either Succeeded or Failed at that Challenge; in addition, if any contestant Succeded at the challenge, one contestant who Succeded at the challenge is its Challenge Champion.
Unless there is an ongoing Challenge, the Host may create a Challenge by publishing a story post with [Challenge] in its title, which contains the following information:
- What causes a Contestant to Succeed at the Challenge (all other Contestants Fail at it);
- Which Contestant will become the Challenge Champion if any Contestant Succeeds;
- Under what circumstances, or at what time, that Challenge finishes.
A Challenge becomes ongoing when created; the Challenge finishes when specified in the Challenge, and the Contestants who Succeeded at it, and who Failed at it, and the Challenge Champion, are determined as specified by the Challenge. Then, the Challenge Champion gains 3 Fame (the Host is responsible for updating the GNDT accordingly); in addition, the Host may change the owner of one Reward to the Challenge Champion.
Despite rule 2.3, Contestants cannot change their Location to the Reward Room unless there has been at least one Challenge, they were Contestants at the time of the most recent Challenge, and they Succeeded at that Challenge.
Add “Reward Room” to the list of rooms in rule 2.3.
It looks like people are getting bored in the bunker. A bit of friendly televised competition should help to make things a bit more interesting.
[Inappropriately flourescent title sequence.]
Dear Dairy:
The rest of the fish got thrown out today. There was nothing I could do about it. On the plus side, Wakukee (I think) got the dishwasher working, so Oze and delta won’t have to hand-wash everything. Psychotipath stumbled on another package of hamburger buns, so I’m making Bucky Burgers tonight. We’ll see how that goes.
I’ve also been playing a lot of table tennis with Smith. I have this killer serve which scores nine times out of ten. Usually for my opponent. Smith has a slightly less killer serve, and as a result plays a better game overall. I’m improving fast, though, and should be able to beat him in a month or so. I’ve got the first-order game down (hit the ball). Now I just need to get my second-order game straight (hit the table with the ball).
As I once promised
I shall write my di-a-ry

Create a new rule “Exercise Regime”:
Each Contestant has a numerical statistic called “Looks”, tracked by the GNDT, which determines the relative attractiveness of the Contestant in regards to other Contestants. New Contestants and Unidling Contestants with no Looks shall set their Looks to 5.
As a daily action, a Contestant in the Gym may exercise by making a comment in the GNDT of “Exercising” and a roll of DICE7. If the result of the roll is equal to or smaller than the number of times the Contestant has exercised in the past 7 days, their Looks are increased by 1.
Whenever two or more Contestants have their Fame increased at the same time, if exactly one of those Contestants has more Looks than each other of those Contestants, the Contestant who has the highest Looks amongst them increases their Fame by an additional 1.
Set the Looks of each Contestant to 5.
If at least half of the counted votes on this proposal included the text “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”, after this proposal becomes enacted each Contestant has a 72 hour period to make a single roll of DICE3 on the GNDT and add the result to their Looks.
Timed out. Passes 10-6. Enacted by Clucky.

If, at any time, the number of outsiders is equal to or greater that twice the number of insiders, then all outsiders have their “status” value in the GNDT set to “In”, and all insiders have their “status” value in the GNDT set to “Out”. This is known as an Uprising. Whenever an Uprising occurs, the Fame of all Outsiders (before the Uprising) is increased by one, and the fame of all Insiders (before the Uprising) is decreased by one. An uprising cannot occur more than once a week. More than once uprising a week is bad for the ratings. Also, we don’t want anyone bashed to a bloody pulp too often. Our lawyers aren’t that good.

Add a new dynastic rule entitled Confrontation:
If two Contestants have their Vote set to each other, they are Rivals. If both of the Rivals are Leaders, then one of the Rivals may create a Story Post stating that he/she is challenging their Rival to a Confrontation. Within 72 hours of the Confrontation being announced, both Rivals must roll DICEX where X is equal to the number of Followers the Rival has. Whichever Rival rolls the higher number is declared the Fight Victor; the Rival with the lower number is the Fight Loser. If one of the Rivals does not roll a DICEX within 72 hours, that Rival is a No-Show.
If one Rival is a No-Show, they are declared the Fight Loser, and the other Rival is declared the Fight Winner. If both Rivals are No-Shows, each lowers their fame by 1.
The Fight Victor gains 4 Fame. The Fight Loser gains 2 Fame and then becomes an Outsider, unless they are a No-Show, in which case they lose 1 Fame and then become an Outsider.

When a Contestant’s Location is set to ‘Indoor Garden’, as a weekly action, that Contestant may ‘Pick Fruit’. The Contestant makes a post to the blog entitled ‘Y’s Fruit Picking’ where Y is the name of that Contestant. The post must detail the type of fruit, obtained by rolling ‘FRUIT’ in the GNDT, that the Contestant has found. Each Contestant may make a comment to the post once with a For icon symbolising that they have ‘Eaten Fruit’. Upon making the comment, that Contestant rolls DICE10 in the GNDT, and takes the roll to the ‘Fruit Effects Table’ below,if the dice roll is 1, the effect in the row titled ‘1’ is applied, if the dice roll is between 2 and 5 inclusive, the effect in the row titled ‘2-5’ is applied, if the dice roll is 6 or 7, the effect in the row titled ‘6-7’ is applied, If the dice roll is 8 or 9, the effect in the row titled ‘8-9’ is applied, and if the dice roll is 10, the effect in the row titled ‘10’ is applied . When the number of For votes reaches Quorum, if they have not already done so, the Contestant who Picked Fruit may increase their Fame by 1.
Fruit Effects Table:
1 The Contestant has a hyper rush, and can perform one daily action of their choice one more time that day than they would otherwise be able to”
2-5 The Contestant enjoys eating the tasty fruit. Nothing happens.
6-7 The Contestant eats the fruit, and has a hallucination. The Contestant increases their own Fame by 1
8-9 The Contestant eats the fruit, and has an epiphany. The Contestant may change their Support.
10 The Contestant eats poisoned fruit, and has an upset tummy. The Contestant must change the Location statistic of any Contestant in the Bathroom to the Lounge, and change their own location to the Bathroom.

Part 1:
If there exists a rule entitled “Social Structure”, then add a subrule to it with the following text:
Grudges.
There is a GNDT column called “Grudge” whose legal values are the names of all non-Host Contestants. A Contestant is said to have a Grudge against any one or more Contestants named in eir Grudge column. A Contestant may not simultaneously have a Grudge against, and Support, a particular other Contestant: if any change in Gamestate required or permitted by the Ruleset would, but for this sentence, cause a Contestant to simultaneously have a Grudge against, and Support, a particular other Contestant, then the Grudge will exist and the Support will revert to its default value).
Part 2:
Change the sentence in the rule “Social Structure” that presently reads:
A Contestant’s Support defaults to the Contestant immediately below them in the GNDT, skipping the Host, with the bottom Contestant defaulting to the top Contestant.
so that it reads:
A Contestant’s Support defaults to the Contestant immediately below them in the GNDT, skipping the Host and any Contestant whom the Contestant has a Grudge against, with the bottom Contestant defaulting to the top Contestant.
Deliberately omitting the mechanics of how one can acquire or lose a Grudge. This can be fleshed out later.

Quorum is equal to half the number of Contestants, rounded down, plus one. If a Rule or other Gamestate document refers to a Quorum of some subset of Contestants (such as a Quorum of Contestants who share a particular Gamestate attribute, but excluding all other Contestants) then Quorum is equal to half the number of Contestants who share that Gamestate attribute, rounded down, plus one.

What is this place? Why am I here? Most importantly… who am I? Why don’t I remember everything?
I don’t know anyone here, now have I been able to locate an exit. I’ve been listening in to the conversations and from the looks of this all, it seems like some kind of game. I found an unclaimed bag of clothes back in the bedroom, so I guess that one is possibly mine. I found a card that read, “Arthexis, 24” inside, so I guess that’s my name and maybe my age. I tried the clothes inside and they all fit perfectly, so there seems to be no doubt about that.
When I heard someone had uncovered a new door, I felt thrilled… but when it happened to just be an indoor garden, well…
I really really need to figure a way out from this place and find out who placed me here and why. There are a lot of questions I need to ask.

If at least 72 hours have elapsed since the last time a Contestant became Out, a Contestant may, as a daily action, change a Misvoting Contestant’s Vote to any Insider. (Changing the Vote of one Misvoting Contestant is the same daily action as changing the Vote of a different Misvoting Contestant; therefore, each Contestant may only change one other Contestant’s Vote per day.)
The viewers are getting impatient for someone to become an Outsider. More importantly, I want to know what’s outside this bunker! Create a new subrule under “The Bunker†titled “Settlement House Ethos,†with the following text:
A Contestant in the kitchen may, as a weekly action but subject to the limitations in this rule, attempt to cook. The Contestant making the attempt must make a post to the main page titled “{Name} is Cooking for the {Room}†where {Name} is the Contestant’s Name and {Room} is a Room in the bunker other than the Kitchen. The body of the post should describe the food being cooked. That Contestant must then roll DICEX where X is the number of Contestants in the Kitchen (including the Contestant who is cooking) plus the number of Contestants in the named Room unless X would be equal to 1; if X would be equal to 1 no DICE are rolled and the cooking is automatically unsuccessful. The result of the DICEX role is the “resultâ€. If the result exceeds X/2 rounded up, the cooking was successful, if it is less that X/4 rounded down or equal to 1, the cooking was a disaster, otherwise the cooking was merely unsuccessful. The Contestant must post a comment to the cooking post stating which of these outcomes has occurred.
If the cooking was successful, the Contestant who did the cooking may change the Support of a number of Contestants equal to the result who are in the Kitchen or the named Room to him; if, however, the result was equal to X, the Contestant may choose not to change his own support to himself as part of this process. If making these changes causes any Contestant’s Support to be the same as his Vote, that Contestant’s Vote must be set to blank. If the cooking was unsuccessful nothing happens. If the cooking was a disaster the Contestant doing the cooking must set the vote values of all Contestants in the Kitchen and the named Room, except his own, to his name. If making this change causes any Contestant’s support to be the same as his vote, that Contestant’s support must be set to its default.
Any attempt to cook renders the dishes dirty and they remain dirty until a Contestant cleans them. In order to clean the dishes a Contestant must be in the Kitchen. The Contestant doing the cleaning must add a comment to the original cooking post stating that he is “doing the dishes.†That Contestant must then remain in the Kitchen for 24 hours; the Contestant doing the dishes must then post a comment to the cooking post stating that the “dishes are done,” at which point the dishes are no longer dirty. If the Contestant who is doing the dishes leaves the Kitchen for any reason before the end of that 24 hour period, he must post a comment to the cooking post stating that the “dishes remain dirty.†Any attempt to do the dishes requires a full 24 hours, regardless of any prior incomplete attempts.
A Contestant may not cook if: another Contestant has successfully cooked in the previous 24 hours, the dishes are dirty, or if that Contestant was the last Contestant to attempt to cook.
I think this answers most of the concerns raised in the first post. There is now a downside to attempting to cook. Since disaster has more severe consequences than success, however, I have made it less likely to occur. I have also provided for the situation where the consequences of cooking would violate the rule that support and vote can not have the same value. Since the consensus is that a Character can support himself, I have not forbidden the cook from changing his own support, however, I have given him the option not to do so. I have made explicit the fact that cleaning the dishes causes them to cease to be dirty. I have also removed the objectionable text-in-vote mechanism so this will be a straight up or down vote.

In Rule 2.3 (The Bunker), replace “Each Contestant occupies a single room, as tracked in the GNDT under the column “Location”, and begins in the Lounge.” with:-
Each Insider occupies a single room, as tracked in the GNDT under the column “Location”, and begins in the Lounge. (Outsiders have their Location value set to ‘Outside’, and are not considered to be in any room.)
And put a paragraph break after it, and replace “Contestant” with “Insider” throughout the rest of the rule.
Under current rules, Outsiders still exist in the last room they occupied, which - depending on what we think “Outsider” means - doesn’t necessarily make a lot of sense.

A Contestant in the kitchen may, as a weekly action but subject to the limitations in this rule, attempt to cook. The Contestant making the attempt must make a post to the main page titled “{Name} is Cooking for the {Room}” where {Name} is the Character’s Name and {Room} is a Room in the bunker other than the Kitchen. The body of the post should describe the dish being cooked. That Character must then roll DICEX where X is the number of Characters in the Kitchen (including the Character who is cooking) plus the number of Characters in the named {Room}; this is the “result”. If the result exceeds X/2 rounded up, the cooking was successful, otherwise it was unsuccessful. If the cooking was successful, the Character who did the cooking may change the Support value of a number of Characters equal to the result who are in the Kitchen or the named Room to his name. If the cooking was unsuccessful nothing happens.
A Character may not cook if someone else has successfully cooked in the previous 24 hours or if that Character was the last Character to attempt to cook.
If a majority of the votes in favor of this proposal include the phrase “This is real life, people” add the following after the first paragraph of the new subrule:
Any attempt to cook renders the dishes dirty and they remain dirty until a Character cleans them. In order to clean the dishes a Character must be in the Kitchen. The Character doing the cleaning must add a comment to the original cooking post stating that he is “doing the dishes.” That Character must then remain in the Kitchen for 24 hours at which point he must post a comment to the cooking post stating that the “dishes are done.” If the Character who is doing the dishes leaves the Kitchen for any reason before the end of that 24 hour period, he must post a comment to the cooking post stating that the “dishes remain dirty.” Any attempt to do the dishes requires a full 24 hours, regardless of any prior failed attempts.
Also, if a majority of the votes in favor of this proposal include the phrase “This is real life, people” change the final sentence of the new subrule to read:
A person may not cook if: someone else has successfully cooked in the previous 24 hours, the dishes are dirty, or if that person was the last person to attempt to cook

Create a new rule, “Flashback”:
At times, Contestants may gather in a room and do stuff together, resulting in interesting extra footage that can also be shown during broadcast time in the form of Flashbacks. Whenever a Contestant makes a proposal, other Contestants that vote on it may include an symbol with their vote (this action is known as Flashing), signifying that they consider the Proposal as flashback worthy. If the Proposal becomes enacted, the Proposer and each Flashing Candidate that shares their location with the Proposer at the time of enactment may raise their Fame by 1 a single time before the next broadcast takes place. However, if the Proposal becomes fails having a Quorum of AGAINST votes or more, the Fame of each Contestant that Flashed it shall be lowered by 1 immediately, as they fade (quickly) into obscurity.

Add “Indoor Garden” to the list of rooms in rule 2.3
“Guys, I think that’s a door behind the tall cupboard in the Lounge, it could lead to a whole new area of the bunker! what d’you say, shall we try to go through?”
The Indoor Garden is a place where Contestants can go to relax. A little confusing, the plants grow, and yet the only lights are some weird bright lamps on the high ceiling.
The Prize Fund starts at $1,000,001.
Yes, that’s right; you could win one million and one dollars, the largest prize ever offered on a reality TV show before. Note, however, that this is a maximum value; rule-breaking, or other undesirable actions (such as being boring), may cause this value to decrease over time.
Oh, we’ll also throw in a brand new top-of-the-range supercar!
Haven’t moved from the lounge yet, at least until now, the food they try feeding me sucks, so I just eat the bugs and mice. No one seems to notice my excretions yet(The whole public washroom idea has yet to catch on for me) but the smell will get to them sooner or later. I don’t think there’s a way out of here, I’m going stir crazy all ready, unless they vote you out but I want in. I might not get another chance on TV again so this is my shot at becoming a star. There’s new people coming in from time to time, keep muttering something about ‘Nomic’. The crazies.
Now, time I start being a person instead of ‘That weird guy in the corner’.
Create a new Glossary entry after “3.1 Flavor Text”, called “Polls” which shall read:
There is a specific type of post called a “poll” which contains a question, and two or more answer options. If a given poll is not a type of post which can be enacted (passed) or failed, it must also include an expiration date. Otherwise, it’s expiration date is considered the same as the date on which it was enacted (passed) or failed. Any post fulfilling these requirements is considered a poll even if not clearly identified as such. In polls, these additional rules must be observed:
* Contestants making comments on that poll may include one of the answer options in the text of their comments, preceding it with the icon. The included answer option is considered that Contestant’s given Opinion regarding that poll’s question.
* Only the last Opinion given by a Contestant on a given poll is considered that Contestant’s Opinion. Previous Opinions for that poll from the same Contestant are ignored.
* At any time that the current date is past the expiration date of a poll, the poll is considered closed. New Opinions cannot be given on poll’s which are closed.
* After a poll is closed, if the poll has at least one opinion, any Contestant can create an official post which counts the number of times each Opinion was given for that particular poll question. This is known as a Tally.
* Only the first correct Tally made for a particular poll is considered to be an actual Tally. A Tally can only be correct if the Opinions for its poll have been correctly counted.
Sorry for being verbose, in fact I tried not to make it too complex. Some key issues I tried to avoid with this wording:
* Not putting more work on the shoulders of admins: anyone can tally up.
* Allowing Proposals to have polls. Proposals can include instructions to be executed on certain Tally results. (This only occur after the actual tally is made, and as long as they don’t involve ruleset modification, anyone can complete the instructions)
* Clearly delineates an Opinion by using an icon.
* Polls allow the comunity to give its opinion in the form of a multiple choice, instead o yes/no answers like regular proposals do.

Is there any way to tell which blognomic players are currently online? If not, would this be difficult to implement?

Every Contestant has a statistic in the GNDT called “Satisfactionâ€. A Contestant’s Satisfaction can be any integer between 1 and 100, inclusive. A Contestant may not perform any actions that have a Required Satisfaction greater than said Contestant’s Satisfaction. All Contestants’ Satisfaction starts at 50.
There exist special actions called Actions, which are recorded as sub-rules of this rule. Required Satisfaction: (The Satisfaction required to perform this Action.)
Frequency: (How frequently this Action may be performed by any Contestant.)
Effect: (The effect of this Action.)An Action may not be performed by a single Contestant more frequently than once per unit of time as specified by the Action’s Frequency. Is this thing on? Where are we? The air pressure feels all wrong, here, and I’m starting to feel claustrophobic. There are windows above the sink in the kitchen, but pulling the curtains aside I can’t tell whether they’re blacked out, or if it’s just dark outside. Or bare rock. Are we underground? I don’t remember that being mentioned in the waiver I signed.
I noticed a few doors concealed in the stucco-papered walls of the lounge - perhaps they’ll open up as the series progresses, perhaps we’ll get to see sunlight again. I think I’ll just sleep this off, for now.
It is very strange here. The cameras are everywhere and despite nearly half a dozen people in the kitchen there doesn’t appear to be anyone cooking. I fear that if this goes on too long there could be some interesting consequences. Also the lack of knowledge about what we’re meant to be doing in this house is starting to irk me. When I proposed “Dear Diary” I thought that, if the proposal “The Fame Game” passed, the text about broadcasting footage from the diary room should be added to “that rule,” the text added by “The Fame Game” proposal to the rule “The Bunker.” When Dear Diary was adminned, the text got added to the Dear Diary rule instead. Unfortunately, I don’t think it makes any sense in its current location. Now that the wording of “The Fame Game” amendment has been clarified by “Secure Beneath the Watchful Eyes” I think the last two sentences of Dear Diary should find their way home as well.
If this CfJ passes, move the text:
If, however, the host broadcasts footage from the diary room he shall not increase the Fame of the Contestant in that room, if any. Instead he shall increase the Fame of each Contestant who had made a diary entry in the preceding week by 1.
from the rule “Dear Diary” to the rule “The Bunker” immediately after the passage that reads
As a daily action, the Host may broadcast footage from the Reality TV Bunker. He does this by rolling DICEX in the GNDT, where X is the number of Rooms that exist - the Room whose position in the list matches the rolled result is filmed. The Host then increases the Fame of each Contestant in the filmed Room by 1.
For a while back, I started to wonder: would it be too hard to have some sort of polling system integrated into EE? I don’t even know if others like the idea, but I am sure some of you might have thought about it before. Yes, we can do poll-like stuff with proposals and whatnot, but it usually involves adding all sorts of legalese text to rule the poll.
If others like this idea, but implementing an automated poll system is not feasible or practical, I suggest we add a Glosary entry that defines what a Poll is, and how should it be conducted, for those cases where we need to use one. If this is the case, I’ll draft said proposal myself.
Your thoughts on this?
I needed to find a place to crash, and fast, after my ex let me know that I needed to move out - a simple note would have worked, but burning down the house certainly got the message across loud and clear. Trying out for a reality show seemed like the answer to all of my problems; I get free room and board for a month or so while I try to put my life back together. Now that I am here though, I am beginning to have second thoughts. I have never been on TV before, and there are cameras EVERYWHERE - I think I just saw one of the cameramen follow someone into the bathroom. The other contestants seem nice, but I haven’t lived with this many people at once since college. Anyways, I think I just need to put a good face on things and hope for the best. Maybe I will go to the kitchen and see if I can help Bucky with the cooking.
I would like to join this game
I’ve been pretty busy getting the kitchen into shape. Since I’m the one here with the most real culinary experience, I get to cook for everyone. I figure once they’ve tasted my Fish in Green Sauce, they’ll want to keep me on the show as long as possible. And since I dug up some onions, there will be Bucky Burgers on the menu in the near future.
I want a word with the guy they sent to buy the food, though. Given the strict rations, at least half the fish is going to go bad before we can eat it. We have enough ground chuck for a week’s supply of Bucky Burgers, and a grand total of eight buns. I’m rationing the ketchup myself. On the bright side, sooner or later we’re going to get used to eating peas for breakfast.
Oh, and my pie only requires ten digits to make.

Add a Rule titled “Peer Pressure”:
In certain circumstances, a Contestant may override the votes of a target Contestant on a Pending Proposal by making a comment on that Proposal in the following format:
“Influence {Contestant Name} to vote {Vote Icon}”
This comment is referred to as a Manipulation. The text in braces is to be replaced with actual values where {Contestant Name} is the name of a Contestant who Supports the Contestant performing the Manipulation (in the context of this Manipulation action, these two Contestants can be referred to as the Manipulated and Manipulator, respectively); and where {Vote Icon} is a single voting icon which would be legal for the Manipulated to cast on the Pending Proposal.
The effect of this Manipulation is that it is counted as a legal, final vote cast by the Manipulated on the Proposal in question, regardless of any other votes, or absence of vote, by the Manipulated. The value of this vote corresponds to the voting icon used in the Manipulation.
A Contestant may not make a Manipulation action more than once per pending Proposal. Manipulations may not be retracted or changed by Contestants, however if multiple Manipulations target the same Contestant, later Manipulations take precedence over earlier ones.
If ever the concept of Supporting a Contestant is not defined in the ruleset, then this rule has no effect.

Create a new dynastic rule called ‘Items’ with the following text:
There exists a category in the GNDT called ‘Items’, which contains a list of the current Items held by a Contestant. The wiki page “Items†is considered a Gamestate document and contains the properties of all legal Items. Items have the following properties:
Name - what the Item is called
Description - a description of the item.
Notation - the two letter code used in the GNDT to signify this item
Location - where the Item can be found.
Item Get - how to obtain the item
Condition - when you can use the item
Item Use - what happens when you use the itemItems carried by a Contestant are tracked in the GNDT under ‘Items’ in a list using the Notation property of that item as in the wikia page, separated by commas. A Contestant can carry a number of items less than or equal to the value of their Fame statistic plus 1, this number is their ‘Item Limit’ (but is not tracked in the GNDT). Items can be ‘obtained’ by a Contestant who fulfills the requirements from the ‘Item Get’ property of that item, and whose current Location is the same as the ‘Location’ property of the item, if the Location is N/A the Location has no impact on whether a Contestant can obtain the item , and who has not already got a number of items tracked in the GNDT equal to their Item Limit. A Contestant can not obtain two items simultaneously. When a Contestant ‘obtains’ an item, they add that item’s Notation to the list tracked in the GNDT. As a daily action, a Contestant may ‘use’ an item in their Item list (under the GNDT) if they fulfil the ‘Condition’ property of that item. To ‘use’ an item, the Contestant removes that item’s Notation from their Items list on the GNDT, and carries out the ‘effects’ under the ‘Item Use’ property of that Item. Items can be added to the wikia page ‘Items’ by a proposal clearly showing all of the properties of the item (and which title they come under).
If at least half of the votes on this proposal include the word ‘Pipe’:
Add the following item to the wikia page ‘Items’:
Name: Metal Pipe
Description: A Pipe made from Metal.
Notation: MP
Location: N/A
Item Get: The Contestant must be an Outsider, the Contestant must not currently have ‘MP’ in their Items.
Condition: The Contestant must be an Outsider
Item Use: The Contestant using this item makes a post to the blog, describing their use of the item, and naming the Contestant they wish to use the item on, this Contestant is the ‘Usee’. The Usee may not perform actions permitted or required by Dynastic rules for 24 hours after the post is made. The post must contain the phrase ‘Metal Pipe’.

I can’t believe I’m really here! I know this is going to be an exciting contest, even though they haven’t told us how it will work yet. I don’t even know what the prize will be! But it doesn’t matter - winning is it’s own reward, you know?
So I’ve been working out, perfecting my ping pong game, and memorizing German advertising jingles. I can groom a poodle, while blindfolded, in under 5 minutes. I can’t recite pi to one hundred places yet, but I think I’m about as ready as I’ll ever be.
Today I haven’t done much but wait around with the other contestants. It’s hard to size up the competition. What’s my mood? I’m about as nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs.

Hey, Kevan? Can you please upload the new veto that DC made? I was able to update everything except the image that shows up when you click on the icon in comments, so I reverted it all. I did fix a few minor thing in the process though. If you could help me figure out how to upload images, that would be great. Thanks.

Add a new dynastic rule:
There is a statistic Comfort that applies to all non-Host Contestants, which is an integer with minimum value 1, defaulting to 10, that represents what the current quality of life of that Contestant is.
An invalid word, for any given non-Host Contestant, is a word that is longer in letters than that Contestant’s Comfort, which is not the name of any Contestant or the Host, and which is not defined by the rules; no words are invalid for the Host. Any blog post required or permitted by a dynastic rule is invalid and has no effect if it contains an invalid word for the Contestant who posted it, and the fact is pointed out in a comment to that post within 24 hours; however, even if the dynastic rules somehow require or permit a proposal or CFJ, this rule expressly has no effect on proposals nor on CFJs. Contestants should nevertheless attempt to avoid invalid words in their proposals; but nothing in particular happens if a proposal contains an invalid word.
You’ve had it easy so far in the bunker; but we’re going to start rationing things to see how you cope. So that’s rationed food, rationed hot water; we even wanted to ration oxygen but the lawyers wouldn’t let us.
Basically, the less you have to live on, the harder you’ll find it to put together a coherent sentence. 10 is easily enough to write more or less anything, but I imagine the value might quite possibly come down due to future rules, either voluntarily or due to a forced deduction. The way votes are looking at the moment, this is initially going to apply mostly to diary room posts. (I may try to voluntarily stay under some defined comfort level anyway, though.)

Create a new rule called “Tokens”
There exists a GNDT column called tokens. The valid values of it are 0 and any positive integer. A contestant who is “out” may not have any tokens. If a new contestant joins the game, they start with 1 token. Tokens may be spent on actions defined by subrules of this rule at any time. To spend them the contestant must create a post in blognomic stating the amount being spent, the action taken and the person the action is being used on. They must then reduce their number of tokens by the specified amount. A contestant may reduce their own tokens to any legal value and increase another contestants tokens by the same amount.
Create a subrule “Immunity”
By spending X + 1 tokens, a selected contestant may not have his status changed to out for 24*X hours.
Create a subrule “Welcoming back”
By spending 5 tokens, a selected contestant with a status of out may have his status changed to in.
Give everyone 1 token.
This fixes the problems talked about, hopefully.

Add a new rule: “Dear Diary”
If a Contestant is in the Diary Room he may make a diary enty by making a post on the main page with the title “Diary Entry - “mm/dd” “Name”” where “mm/dd” is the month and date of the post as recorded in the sidebar and “Name” is that Contestant’s name. The body of the post should describe something that happened to the Contestant during the day and/or how the Contestant is feeling. After making a diary entry the contestant must change his location to some room other than the Diary Room and may not set his location to the Diary Room again for 72 hours.
If the proposal “The Fame Game” passes the following is added to the end of that rule:
If, however, the host broadcasts footage from the diary room he shall not increase the Fame of the Contestant in that room, if any. Instead he shall increase the Fame of each Contestant who had made a diary entry in the preceding week by 1.
No point in having a diary room if we don’t give people an incentive to use it. I am open to tweaking the specifics, so if you don’t like this as written, please let me know how you would want to see it changed.

Every Item has a Name, Description, Use, and Pickup Condition.
Only the Name is tracked in the GNDT.
Items include the following:
Pipe - A sturdy Metal Pipe - A Pipe may be used to cripple another player, making them unable to perform any game actions for 24 hours, the pipe is then removed from the users inventory - If a contestant is Out for more than 24 hours they can pickup a pipe, IF they haven’t picked up a pipe since they became Out and there isn’t a Pipe in their inventory.
If the Rule “The Bunker” does not exist, the following parts of this proposal do nothing.

Every Contestant except the Host is either In (default) or Out; this is tracked in the GNDT under the column “Status”. A Contestant who is In is known as an Insider; a Contestant who is Out is known as an Outsider.
There is a GNDT column called “Vote” whose legal values are blank, and the names of all non-Host Contestants; this defaults to blank. A Contestant can change their own Vote as a daily action.
At any time, if more than half of the Insiders have their Vote set to the same Insider, any Contestant can cause that Insider to become an Outsider by updating the GNDT accordingly.
If more than half of the counted votes on this proposal contain the phrase “Back in”, add the following paragraph to that new rule:
Whenever a proposal is enacted, if the Contestant who authored it is at that time an Outsider, that Outsider becomes an Insider; the admin who enacts the proposal is responsible for updating the GNDT accordingly.
Even if that paragraph is not added, Contestants are encouraged to propose some other method for Outsiders to end up back as Insiders again.

Change rule 2.11 (Taking the Initiative) to read:
As a daily Action, a Scripter whose Popularity is higher than that of each other Scripter may steal the Producer’s chair by posting a blog entry to that effect, and reducing their own Popularity by 1.
Upon doing so, that Scripter may consider themselves to be the Producer for the purpose of any Dynastic Rule (except for “Bonus Features”, “Subliminal advertising”, and “The Awkward Aftermath”), for the next hour.
It may not be immediately necessery, but the prospect of a scriptor who has somehow gained popularity stealing the chair, making some bribes, and then closing the bribery stage scares me to no end. Thus, this is a CFJ to ensure that it is passed before there is an oppurtunity for someone to do this.

Create a new subrule, 2.7.2 titled “Film Prop-aganda” with the following text:
As a weekly action, a Scripter may create a Promotional Poster for the film. To do this, the Scripter makes a Story Post with the title “Promotional Poster: X,” where “X” is replaced by the name of an Action Prop that has not previously been used in a Promotional Poster. The body of the Story Post must contain a catchphrase for the movie (preferably involving the Action Prop) and the name of the Action Prop being used. The end of the body of the Story Post must read “5-5-2010,” as that is the tentative release date of the film (subject to change at any time).
Whenever a Scripter creates a Promotional Poster, he receives Royalties equal to the Challenge Rating of the Action Prop he used.
Example Promotional Poster:
Title: Promotional Poster: Indiana Jones’ Amazing Deadly Whip
Body: Get ready to be “whipped” into shape. 5-5-2010
This gives an opportunity for a fun, unscammable sidegame that could actually change the outcome of the Dynasty. Note that each Scripter will probably only have one shot at it, because the Dynasty is likely to be over in a week. Also, note that it is possible to quickly increase the value of an Action Prop, so that one which doesn’t even exist now may be highly useful in a Promotional Poster.

* A Scripter should not make or edit a post such that its title does not broadly match its URL title.
Wakukee’s ub3r-l33t “changing the URL title field when posting” secret messages make Sparrow’s useful recent-changes Firefox plugin less clear, for the sake of showing off. I’ve mentioned this a couple of times now, to no effect, so I suppose it’s time to try a proposal.
Out of curiosity, is there a way, other than IRC, to track which Blognomic players are logged on? It would be helpful, especially if it also detected whether they have refreshed the page in the last 15 minutes, as many simply leave a computer logged on. Hmm? I don’t personally know how to do it/ if it is possible, but it would be a nice thing to have.
Looks like tuxhedoh ought to go idle. Last post was at 1 am on the 1st. It’s almost the 9th now. Should affect the final voting. Can an Admin (as I cannot do this myself ...yet) handle this ?
This is what it all comes down to. Many of you have written various scripting masterpieces. Now, we shall all look upon the Finale’s Scenes, and each of us shall select a Scene to recognise as the best, and shall declare their choice via the data tracker.
And the person with the most votes in, say, about a week will be declared the Finale Winner.
(There is clearly no stage between the first and second paragraph. There is clearly going to be no underhanded dealings with your ill-gotten gains. There is clearly going to be no requirement to make your plans for a stage of blackmail, deceit and good honest bribery in approximately 3 days time. There is clearly no detailed description of the workings of such sub-systems, detailed in the rule linked below.

May the best Finale Scene Scripter win.

NOTE: The Bribery Phase has begun. (The Voting Phase has ended.)
Forgot to vote to keep from idling… I probably won’t do much until next dynasty starts, though. Could you unidle me, please?

If the most recent proposal entitled “Closed Vote” passed, this proposal does nothing.
To the end of rule 2.2.4.1, add:-
A Scripter who joined the game or unidled during the Voting Stage or the Bribery Stage may not change their ‘Vote’ statistic, nor have it changed by another Scripter.
13 players left, quorum of 7.

To the end of rule 2.2.4.1, add:-
A Scripter who joined the game after May 5th 2009 (or unidled after that date) may not change their ‘Vote’ statistic, nor have it changed by another Scripter.

To Rule 2.3, add:-
If a Scripter has been snubbed in regard to their objection about a particular Act, they may not call a halt to the scripting process on that Act again.

Create a new Core Rule with the same name and contents as Rule 3.6. Then repeal Rule 3.6.
In the Core Rule entitled “Scripters”, delete the text “A Scripter must abide by the rules of fair play in Glossary section 3.6.” In the same Rule, change the text “excluding Rules 1.1, 1.2 and 1.8” to “excluding Rules 1.1, 1.2, 1.8 and 1.10”.
The “Fair Play” section seems like it belongs in the Core Rules rather than the Glossary.

Create a new Subrule of Rule 2.2.1 Stunt Casting, Rule 2.2.1.1 with title “Final Casting Call†and the following text:
Scripters may Cast an actor or actress to play one of the following characters throughout the film: Man, Stewart (The Hero), Tall Girl, Oliver, Cockroach, Bo. To do this, a Scripter must make a story post entitled “Casting for [X],†with “[X]†being replaced with the name of the character to be played. This story post is known as a Casting Call. The body of the story post must clearly identify one actor or actress to play the role of the character.
If at any point in time a quorum of Scripters (including the one who created the Casting Call) comment “Seconded†on a Casting Call, then the Scripter who created the Casting Call earns 5 Royalties. The actor or actress who was suggested in the Casting Call is said to have been Cast. At that point, any other Casting Calls for the same character become closed. A comment of “Seconded†does nothing for a closed Casting Call. A Casting Call that is not closed is said to be open. No Scripter may create a Casting Call if he has already created a Casting Call which is still open. No Scripter may create a Casting Call for a character who appears in the wiki document “Final Cast.â€
Create a wiki document entitled “Final Cast,†or blank it if it already exists. Whenever an actor or actress is Cast, put the name of the actor or actress in the wiki document along with the name of the character they were Cast to play. This wiki document may not be altered except by Rule or Proposal.
Reproposed to prevent the possibility of confederation. Note that the creator of the Casting Call is now allowed to count towards the quorum.
The example from before is still pretty much legitimate.
Looks like I’m just in time for the endgame.
Arthexis and Hix go idle. Quorum is now 7.
I Cast OJ Simpson to play Cockroach.
Then, if 2 people Seconded this in comments, it would go into effect and no other Casting Calls for Cockroach could succeed. Also, I could not create any more Casting Calls, because this is still open even after it has twice been Seconded.

Just a fun side game to mix up the Royalties situation.
It’s actually pretty simple. No one can get more than 5 Royalties from this, because a Casting Call that succeeds is perpetually open. I’ll post an example to show you how it works.

Create a sub-rule to Rule 2.2.4 The Finale, called ‘The Awkward Aftermath’, with the following text:
When the Finale becomes Finished, Scripters may not vote how the rule Best in Show Votes would normally allow them to. Instead, a Story Post shall be created by the Producer called ‘The Awkward Aftermath’, to be known as the Vote Post; this will link to this rule’s text. When the Vote Post is created, the dynasty enters the Voting Stage.
Each Scripter has a statistic called ‘Vote’, tracked in the GNDT. Scripters start with no value for this statistic. While the dynasty is in the Voting Phase, as a daily action, a Scripter can change their Vote statistic to the name of any Scripter other than themselves who posted a Scene to the Finale that was not Cut.
48 hours after the Vote Post has been created, while the dynasty is in the Voting Stage, the Producer may declare in a comment to the Vote Post that the dynasty has entered the Bribery Stage. 72 hours after the Vote Post has been created, if the dynasty is still in the Voting Stage, any Scripter may declare in a comment to the Vote Post that the dynasty has entered the Bribery Stage. When the dynasty enters the Bribery Stage, it leaves the Voting Stage.
Each Scripter has a statistic called ‘Bribe Value’, tracked in the GNDT. Scripters start with a Bribe Value of 10 + their Popularity, rounded up. When the dynasty enters the Bribery Stage for the first time, each Scripter’s Popularity is set to their own Popularity rounded up, and each Scripter’s Bribe Value is (again) set to 10 + their Popularity. While the dynasty is in the Bribery Stage, a Scripter may Bribe another Scripter (the Recipient) by spending X Royalties, where X is at least the Recipient’s Bribe Value. They then change the Recipient’s Vote statistic to the name of any Scripter (who posted a Scene to the Finale that was not Cut) other than the Recipient, and increase the Recipient’s Bribe Value to the Royalties they spent to make the bribe, plus 1, plus their own Popularity statistic. (Scripters are considered to have 0 Popularity when making bribes if their Popularity is below 0.)
72 hours after the dynasty enters the most recent Bribery Stage, the Producer may declare in a comment to the Vote Post that the dynasty has left the Bribery Stage, and that Movie Completion has been achieved. 96 hours after the dynasty enters the Bribery Stage, if the dynasty is still in the Bribery Stage, any Scripter may declare in a comment to the Vote Post that the dynasty has left the Bribery Stage, and that Movie Completion has been achieved. Scripters are said to have voted for the Scripter named in their Vote statistic, if any. When Movie Completion is achieved, if there is not a tie, the Scripter with the most votes of this kind is titled the ‘Finale Winner’, and their Scene they created in the finale alone is placed on a wiki page titled “Final Actâ€. If there is a tie for most votes, Movie Completion is no longer said to have been achieved, the Royalties of each Scripter are increased by 15, and the dynasty enters the Bribery Stage again. The ‘Finale Winner’ may achieve victory in the current Dynasty.
Trying again.
Admin ‘advantage’ removed, achieving of victory explicit, first paragraph simplified, winner’s title changed to be distinct.

Come here to vote on Act 6! May you vote well. Remember guys, votes here count double as it is a Climax Act!

Yeah, it’s a lot. But income redistribution is a very important part of the economy.
